1.Rules
The regatta will be governed by:
1.1the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008 (RRS);
1.2Yachting Australia Inc. (YA) Special Regulations – Part 2
1.3Championship rules of the Taipan and Capricorn and F18 Classes
1.4this Notice of Race (NOR) and the Sailing Instructions (SIs).
2.Advertising
The regatta is classified as a Category C Event in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.
3.Eligibility and Entry
3.1The regatta is open to all boats of the Taipan, Capricorn and F18 catamaran classes that meet the following requirements:
3.1.1current measurement certificate;
3.1.2all skippers and crew shall comply with RRS 46 & 55 and have a current Silver Card as issued by YA;
3.1.3all skippersshall be a financial member of their relevant class association i.e. the Taipan & Capricorn Catamaran Association of Australia or the F18 Class Association. (Proof of Membership will be required).
3.2Entries on the attached form, together with the appropriate fee, shall be lodged with the Taipan and Capricorn Association c/- Paul Freeman, Qld Taipan Association Representative, 23 Carlton Tce, Wynnum QLD 4179.
3.3Entries close at 1030 on 29 December 2007. Late entries will not be accepted.
3.4Entrants in the Taipan 5.7 Championship shall nominate their sail configuration on the entry form, and boats shall retain this configuration for the entire regatta.
3.5All entries received prior to 1 December 2007 will be entered in a lucky draw for free entry to the regatta.
4.Fees
Taipan 5.7 - $300.00
Taipan 4.9 sloop - $300.00
Taipan 4.9 cat - $260.00
Capricorn & F18 - $300.00
5.Schedule of Events
6.Measurement
Each boat shall comply with valid measurements or ratings as required by the respective class rules for the Taipan and Capricorn Association and F18 Association.
7.Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration at RQYS.
8.Venue
7.1The host club Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Ltd., islocated at 578 Royal Esplanade, Manly, Qld 4179 at the southern end of the Manly boat harbour
7.2Courses will be laid on WaterlooBay. Maps of the sailing area will be displayed on the official notice board.
9.Courses
Courses will be Windward/Leeward which shall be sailed in accordance with the SIs.
10.Scoring
10.1The Low Point scoring system, Appendix A will apply.
10.2The current VYC yardstick adjustment for spinnakers will apply to all Taipan 5.7 boats that nominate to sail with a spinnaker.
11.Radio Communications
A boat shall neither make nor receive radio transmissions, while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
12.Prizes
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
Each division with more than five (5) entrants1st, 2nd and 3rd
Each Division with less than five (5) entrants1st only.

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The Taipan and Capricorn Class Associations, the F18 Class Association, Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Ltd. and all others involved in the management and conduct of this regatta shall not be liable for any loss of life or property, personal injury or damage caused by or arising from participation in this event.
ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO RRS 4.
14Insurance
All entrants shall have a current Third Party Insurance Policy with a racing cover considered by their insurer as adequate for the risks involved. (Minimum AUD$5 million, recommended AUD$10 million).
