DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position will be responsible for all aspects of administering the NC Agriculture Cost Share Program, Community Conservation Assistance Program (CCAP, Agriculture Water Resources Assistance Program (AgWRAP) as well as other conservation programs. Duties include meeting with farmers/landowners to promote program participation; plan and develop contracts; design conservation best management practices; contacts livestock producers on water quality issues and registering/deemed permitted by the DENR; as well as prepares waste/utilization plans for hog/poultry producers; see that practices are planned and installed correctly following all program guidelines as well as track all funds, and report progress at local Soil and Water Conservation District Board Meetings. This position will also advise and assist users in the design, layout, and construction of a variety of soil and water conservation practices as defined in the NRCS Technical Guide.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Computer experience with Excel and Windows based programs, ability to work with a diversified population, excellent communication skills, work with very little supervision; technical knowledge of farming, natural resource conservation, agricultural effects on water quality including sedimentation, erosion, chemical and animal waste leaching and runoff. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: An associate degree in engineering, agriculture, forestry or related field, or a high school diploma with two years’ experience in agriculture, engineering, forestry or related field. Candidate must possess a valid North Carolina driver license and a clean driving record.
