CURRENT EVENT

Directions for written form:

  1. You must attach the article to your current event.
  2. If it is an internet source, you must have the website, date, and the author’s name on the article.
  3. It should be from a reliable source. (An online newspaper (such as, Arizona Daily Star, Tucson Citizen, etc.) or website (CNN, MSNBC, etc) ornewspaper delivered to your house or a magazine. (The article must be dated within the past two weeks).
  4. If you have a question about a source please come speak with me.
  5. Current event format: typed, 12 Font, and double spaced; use form provided on website called “Current event form”. Check spelling and punctuation before printing.
  6. Your analysis of the current event must include the following two parts:

First Paragraph: This is where you summarize the article. It must have the basics, such as, who, what, when, where, why, and how. This portion of the current event should be a half page.Complete sentences!!!

Second Paragraph: This section should include all of the following and should be a half page as well:

  • Explain how this article relates to what we are discussing in class.
  • Explain how this article impacts or is important to you and your life.
  • Your opinion on the article. Do you agree, disagree, does it upset you, etc. (If you don’t care about this article or have an opinion, why pick it? Pick an article that interests you!!)

Presentation Guidelines:

  1. Your written template is due to me by Tuesday at 8:00 pm the night before you present. My email is .
  2. Your presentation will be between 3-5 minutes. You can create a short presentation on powerpoint/Prezi or use a short video clip or photos to enhance your presentation.
  3. You should be able to explain the article fully and then respond to questions that your peers or myself my have about your article.
