Scholarship Application 2013

Attached is the application for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership College Scholarship. The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce will award a $1,000 in college scholarship for students participating in the Junior Leadership Program.

To apply for the scholarship:

  1. You must be a graduating Senior
  2. Complete the application in full
  3. Two letters of recommendation from communityorganization(s) (one must not be associated with any GHS clubs) with whom you have completed volunteer hours during the 2012-2013 school year (other than JLG)
  4. Attach a resume with your accomplishments and activities bulleted
  5. Submit the application and letters of recommendation to Karen Sheldon at the Chamber of Commerce by March 29, 2013

The scholarship winner will be recognized at the May Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Executive Board meeting, Leadership Georgetown Graduation in June, and at the GHS awards ceremony.The money will be deposited in the GHS Scholarship fund and will be paid to the college you are attending upon proof of enrollment.

Junior Leadership Georgetown is a program created through the Chamber of Commerce to developthe next generation of Georgetown community leaders. This nine month program for high school juniors and seniors is designed to strengthen participants’ leadership skills, community awareness and involvement. Junior Leadership Georgetown will provide participants with quality, relevant leadership training along withknowledge of community, needsand opportunities. It allows participants to form effective relationships with current, past, and future leaders in the community.

Goals:

  1. To prepare high school juniors and seniors for future leadership roles in the community
  2. To develop and strengthen leadership skills
  3. To increase understanding of community awareness, needs and opportunities
  4. To develop community pride
  5. To motivate students for volunteer activities
  6. To prepare participants for future leadership roles in the community

Applications are due: March 29, 2013 by 4:30 PM to the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce
