INTRODUCTIONIn line with former Financial Action Task Force Special Recommendation VIII, the information that is provided in this form will assist the Commission in determining the size and activities of the NPO sector in Jersey.
Under Article 1(1) of the Non-Profit Organizations (Jersey) Law 2008 (“NPO Law”), an organisation[1] is an NPO if:
- it is established solely or primarily for charitable, religious, cultural, education, social or fraternal purposes with the intention of benefiting the public or a section of the public (“stated purposes”); and
- it raisesordisburses funds in pursuance of those stated purposes.
- a director of an NPO that is a company; or
- a trustee of an express trust that is an NPO.
Information is to be provided in this form on any organisation that is an NPO that is: (i)established in Jersey; or
(ii)administered in or from Jersey, whether or not it carries on any activity in Jersey.

[1]“Organization” means a body of persons (whether incorporated or unincorporated), any legal entity and any equivalent or similar structure or arrangement, and, for the purpose of the NPO Law, the expression “organization”also includes persons acting as trustees of a trust.
