“We are Pequea!”

Teens screaming, teachers doing impossible stunts with plungers, and amazing songs played by the band. What does this all have in common? The pep rally, of course!

Last Friday, students were waiting in anticipation for the main event. Once the stands were full, seniors Jake Echoff, Joel Hoover, and Brandon Russum led the entire student body in chants and cheers.

All of the PV teams were presented with a grand entrance and the cheerleaders did their routine. A thunderous beat came from The Red Zone as their cheering filled the gym.

Senior Stacy Felker talked about her first experience at a PV pep rally saying, “I thought it was pretty exciting. I liked how crazy it was because there was like a million things happening at once.”

Even after the rally was over, hoots and hollers were heard down every hallway.

Pequea Valley may be a small school, but it is big at heart.

Mr. Bennett, a new face in Pequea Valley, has ventured to our English hallway to teach the subject to sophomores. He states that he wanted to teach here because liked the direction the school is going in terms of

technology.

Bennett came from Franklin

Marshall where he worked with guidance offices of Donegal and Columbia High Schools. He currently coaches soccer at Conestoga Valley and is interested in sports.
His future goals are to teach every grade level at some point and to eventually become a professor. If you get a chance stop by and welcome this new addition to our school!

PV fall sports at a glance

Golf

Key Players: Dustin Yoder, Connor Beiler, Jake Spease, Dylan Beiler, Logan Dienner, Luke Carney, Jared Good

Season Review: The goal was to overcome Lancaster Catholic for second in a match, and the Braves did so in a league match earlier this season. Though they finished third behind LC and Lancaster Mennonite in the final standings, it was another solid all-around season for the Braves on the links.

Girls Tennis

Key Players: Tasha Stoltzfus, Ashley Smucker, Emily Hoskins, Megan Homsher, Kelsi Shenk, Marianna Riehl

Outlook: Most of the main players return from last year's varsity team, and this year's version has had a solid season. Several of the singles and doubles should be in contention at the L-L League Tournament

coming soon.

FieldHockey

Last Season: 0-12-3

Key Players: D Brooke Esh, F Ashley Mast, G Jason Alkins, D Hadassah Huyard, D Heather Lutz, D Shelby Groff, M Karla Neff, M Jackie Harnish, M Emily Hershey, M Victoria Seldomridge, F Heather Lockard, F Haley Doutrich, F Sarah Hovis

Outlook: New coach, and many new faces after the graduation and departure of many players

from last year's team. Many underclassmen are breaking into the varsity squad, but there is evidence of a lot of talent in the team. Alkins has been strong in goal, and there is a lot to look forward to in the seasons to come, as they have been competitive in several games and got a big win over Elco.
Football

Last Season: 2-8

Key Players: QB Ben Myers, WR/CB Chad Tyson, WR/CB Tyler Schmidt, RB Charles Mercer (injured), RB/LB Chris Schmid, OL/DL Andrew Erickson, OL/DL Jordan Crouse, LB Evan Scheuer

Outlook: The high-powered offense is back, and despite Mercer's injury, Schmid has proven to be a runner capable of taking the load off of Myers and the passing game. The key is

defense: can they stop the

scoring tide of opposing teams?

If so, the Braves are thinking .500 this season.

Boys Soccer

Last Season: 5-8-1 L-L League

Section 4; 6-10-2 overall

Key Players: D Zach Neff, D Chris Karg, D Andrew Beiler, M Jon Sparks, M Issac Mohr, F Alogious Hanes, F Joel Hoover, G Brandon Hoover, D Scott Cain, D Josh King, D Zak Andresen, M Alex Twardowski, M Kevin Lockard, M James Killinger, M Jazz Kichline, M Nate Stoltzfus, M Victor Weaver, F Dylan Beiler, F Jordan Willard

Outlook: There's a lot of youth, but the talent level and chemistry are high this year for the soccer team. Preseason work rate was good and the L-L League is wide open. Consistent performances and a belief that they can compete could yield a playoff spot for the first time in four seasons.
