Funding Overview:
Room tax funds are received from the City of Rhinelander and the Town of Pelican, and are facilitated by the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce through the Rhinelander Tourism Marketing Committee (“RTMC”).
RTMC is comprised of members of the City of Rhinelander and Town of Pelican tourism entities. RTMC meets bi-monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. The RTMC distributes room tax funds twice per year – at the June and December meetings.
Funding is devoted to community groups and organizations that further the advertising and promotion of tourism in the Rhinelander area. RTMC will consider applications from non-profit groups and organizations that provide marketing and focus on bringing people to the Rhinelander area. RTMC will also consider applications from non-profit groups and organizations that offer activities or events that will encourage people to stay longer.
RTMC will not fund for-profit organizations. RTMC will not provide room tax funds for an organization’s operating expenses, volunteer pay or stipends, or infrastructure.
Application Deadlines:
The Rhinelander Tourism Marketing Committee will accept funding applications for review at the June and December meetings. Applications must be received at the Chamber of Commerce office by 5pm Friday, May 20, 2016.
Applications received after the May 20th due date will be held for the December review. Applications received after the winterdue date will be held for review at the June meeting.
Completed applications should be delivered to the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber will review the applications and request any missing information – which would be due two days prior to the review meeting.
Application Process:
Applications are available at the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce, and online at Applications may be submitted electronically (preferred) or by hand. If you are submitting your copies by hand, please make 10 copies of your application to distribute to the Committee.
The Rhinelander Tourism Marketing Committee meets on the first Wednesday of every other month, and approved disbursements will occur within one week of the June and December meetings.
