SELECTED SHIP DATA FILES

This section includes only a few of the more common small craft used during World War Two. There were numerous variations, experimental models, and crew modified craft used. Many of the larger ship vessels were not used. Many classes of Destroyers existed but for the purposes of our rules, most would have a similar impact of the scenario. So I have used generic references for the various countries. Another area where entries are limited are for Minor and neutral countries. More extensive data can be obtained by checking out the books ‘Jane’s Fighting Ships of World War Two’ and ‘Jane’s Fighting Ships of World War One’. They contain enough information to create ship charts for omitted vessels. These are only guidelines since crew modifications and sailing with damaged craft was common. Terms used in the data Files.

Nomenclature (NOM) = The Vessel’s Common class or name.

Number is Year and no number indicates available in 1939.

CODE = The Class Type Identification

Class (CL)= Class is based on the vessels draft rather than length.

S = Ship; B = Boat; St = Steel Hull; wh = wood hull

Speed (Spd) = Maximum Speed listed in knots to allow for conversion to your rules.

Hull = Allotted damage Points for the hull

TT = Torpedo Tubes mounted on it. It could vary on modified craft.

FIR = Total vessel Fire Intensity rating. Listed for Fast Play rules.

Guns = Number and size of armament. D = two barrels; q = four barrels

DC = Depth-charge, HG = Heavy MG, MG = Medium (30cal) MG
