NOTTINGHAM CENTRAL WOMEN’S AID (NCWA)

JOB TITLE: Refuge Manager

HOURS: 25 hours

LOCATION: NCWA Refuge Nottingham

ACCOUNTABLE TO: NCWA Management Committee

SALARY: £28860.00 pro rata Plus out of hours sessional rate

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

To have responsibility for managing the operational aspects of NCWA, ensuring service delivery and quality standards are maintained and that any safeguarding issues are addressed appropriately. Working strategically through the Management Committee to develop the service and funding.

Key Outcomes

1.  To manage the delivery and development of high quality support and care to women and children escaping domestic abuse in accordance with NCWA policies and procedures.

2.  Provide line management support, performance monitoring, supervision and complex case management guidance to NCWA workers and volunteers.

3.  To enhance and develop the knowledge and skills of team members by identifying training and other support needs on an on-going basis within budget.

4.  To have responsibility for personnel matters, such as maintaining full service delivery between 9am and 7pm Monday to Friday, weekend activities, monitoring and recording of TOIL, DBS checks, annual leave and sick leave.

5.  To actively contribute to the development of organisational practice and procedures.

6.  To take part in the employee/volunteer recruitment and selection process and to provide appropriate induction for new starters.

7.  To have lead responsibility on a day-to-day basis for overseeing NCWA safe guarding and other risk issues and to ensure that appropriate procedures are followed, ensuring that all case records are current and appropriately maintained.

8.  To have overall responsibility for Health and Safety within the organisation and the Welfare of staff and service users.

9.  To have responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation within budgetary constraints.

10.  To strategically oversee all fundraising bids and activities on behalf of the organisation.

11.  To oversee and ensure compliance with all monitoring required by any service level agreements or stakeholders (including funding allocations).

12.  To maintain and develop effective networks with stakeholders and supporters.

13.  To work with the Management Committee to promote the planning, monitoring, evaluating and development of services provided by NCWA.

14.  To participate in performance monitoring through the Management Committee, to continue to self evaluate and to undertake appropriate training and update skills as required.

15.  To contribute to monthly NCWA Committee Meetings and other relevant activities where possible and as appropriate.

Experience / Experience of managing and supervising staff working with adults and / or children and young people with complex needs.
Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and funders.

Skills and Knowledge / Understanding of the impact of domestic abuse (including HBV/FGM/FM)
Knowledge of procedures and practices relating to the safeguarding of children and young people
Good understanding of the use of Microsoft Office packages including social media.
Ability to manage income to ensure the viability of all funded projects
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision, and take initiative in problem solving.
Ability to deliver robust administrative, governance and financial systems; including proposed developments of practice and procedures.
Proven understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity issues.
An ability to plan, monitor and evaluate workloads in order to achieve organisational targets and develop staff.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, including report writing and briefing skills.
