RACE 1 (R1557) CLASS 5 – 1100M
HAPPY AMIGO, a course scratching as it had sustained a stone bruise off hind foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
FLAMING FIREHEART and HACKER, which were up 23kgs and 31kgs respectively in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.
Racing to the 1000M, DARK EXPRESS (M Yusri) had to be steadied when racing tight between DYNAMIC TRIO (M Zairi) and MONEY NOT ENOUGH (App CT Lee).
FLAMING FIREHEART (C Goon) had to be steadied and shifted out across the heels of ZAC GALLANT (S Salee) at about the 250M.
Jockey S Salee, the rider of ZAC GALLANT, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of ZAC GALLANT revealed no obvious abnormality but returned having cast its near hind plate.
Jockey M Yusri, the rider of DARK EXPRESS, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of DARK EXPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of FLAMING FIREHEART, BLACK AHEAD (S Sandana), and LEE’S MELODY (SS Vanan) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Jockey C Goon, the rider of FLAMING FIREHEART, as to that gelding’s performance. He stated that he did not think the horse acted in the going, that it was having its first start in Malaysia and that his instructions were to ride where the gelding settled. Jockey C Goon further stated that from the wide barrier, FLAMING FIREHEART showed no early speed and failed to respond to his riding. When put under pressure in the straight, the gelding ran on fairly. His explanation was noted.

RACE 2 (R1558) CLASS 5 – 1100M
FIRST OPTION which was up 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
FIRST OPTION (S Salee) which was restless in the barrier, was taken out for a veterinary examination and passed fit to start.
JET ACE (J Shankar) jumped away awkwardly at the start.
JET ACE laid in at about the 100M and Jockey J Shankar had to stop riding and straighten the gelding.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CIZEN BROTHER (App R Narendran) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b), and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of JET ACE, POLO GAGA (M Ganeesh) and DRAGON WALK (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R1559) CLASS 5 - 1700M
SKY WALKER, a course scratching as it has a nail prick to its near fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
FLYING HORSE which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
FASTNET STAR (F Yap) and FAIRBORN (HK Cheng) bumped shortly after the start.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MY HANDSOME GREY (M Yusri) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b), and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of GENERAL G, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality. GENERAL G which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of FLYING HORSE (J Low) and ZENIDIN (S Sandana) revealed no obvious abnormality.
LOVE EXCEL (App CT Lee) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

MAURITIUS TURF CLUB TROPHY
(ONLY APPPRENTICES ALLOWANCES PERMITTED)
TRAVERTINE, a course scratching as it was knocked near hind leg, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Acting on veterinary advice that CIZEN GIFT (C Goon) was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.20 pm. CIZEN GIFT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
PEACEFUL WARRIOR (App CT Lee) was slow to begin.
Racing to the 400M, ASTRO FAME (S Salee) rolled in, resulting in SPEED FLYING (App S Shafrizal) having to be steadied.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ASTRO FAME, RIGHT TIMING (J Low) and JULY JUHO (App R Narendran) revealed no obvious abnormality. ASTRO FAME was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination. JULY JUHO which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

TAWQEET, a course scratching as it had colic, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
ALLIED MARINE (App M Sathiaa) was slow into stride.
Racing to the 1000M, TILSWORTH FREDDIE (J Low) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ACOUSTIC (CK Tan) and lost some ground.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC (App CT Lee) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b), and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of AUDACIOUS (App S Saddam), TILSWORTH FREDDIE and MR VICTORY (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of GHOST CITY (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding returned having cast its near hind plate. GHOST CITY which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R1562) COSMO D – 1200M
(ONLY APPRENTICES ALLOWANCES PERMITTED)
DURAN, a course scratching as it was had corneal ulcer right eye, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
BE THE ONLY HORSE which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
WINDCHASER (C Goon) had its head to the side when the gates were released and was slow to begin.
Racing to the 150M, HEART’S CHOICE (M Ganeesh) laid in, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten the gelding.
Jockey C Goon, the rider of WINDCHASER, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of MOGAN’S PET (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.
The Stewards questioned Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of LEE’S DEFENDER into that gelding’s performance. Jockey Vanan stated that LEE’S DEFENDER was slow to begin, showed no early pace, failed to act in the going and at about the 600M, it changed strides, resulting in him becoming unbalanced for a short distance. He further stated that LEE’S DEFENDER failed to respond to his riding and ran a disappointing race. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of LEE’S DEFENDER revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding returned having cast its off hind plate.

RACE 7 (R1563) CLASS 5 – 1100M
Trainer L Moy was fined the sum of RM500/- (Malaysian Ringgit Five Hundred) under the Penang Turf Club Official Programme Clause 3.4 for scratching WOW without a Veterinary Certificate.
MAGIC RANGER (App Z Khairil), MR NEWMAN (S Salee) and EASTWOOD (App S Shafrizal) all jumped away awkwardly at the start.
The saddle on PROBABLY (App R Narendran) slipped backwards during the running.
Post-race veterinary examinations of WARN YOU MAN (F Yap) and PROBABLY revealed no obvious abnormality.
App CT Lee (PIUS TOUCH), in the presence of his Master, Trainer HS Lim, was shown the footage of his ride over the concluding stages. He was warned that he is required to ride all his mounts out to the end of the race, failing which action will be taken in future.
At the conclusion of an Inquiry, Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of CABRERA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to the 1000M, he shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of PIUS TOUCH, resulting in PIUS TOUCH being carried inward onto WARN YOU MAN which had to be checked and lose ground.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the degree of the interference, Jockey M Ganeesh’s riding record and mitigating factors. Jockey M Ganeesh was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey M Ganeesh’s suspension to take effect from Monday, 26th December 2016 and to expire on Sunday, 8th January 2017, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6.00 pm).

RACE 8 (R1564) CLASS 5 - 1100M
The Stewards acceded to a request from Acting Trainer T Asogan to remove blinker/pacifiers on CASPER (HK Cheng), due to the heavy track condition.
SHINING SUPREME (S Sandana) was slow to begin at the start.
Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SHINING SUPREME, was dislodged at about the 350M. He was exempted from weighing-in and was sent to the hospital for observation. An inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that EYE FOUR GET (App CK Khaw) returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MOONBEAM DAZZLER (J Low), LIGHTNING QUEEN (App M Sathiaa), and SHINING SUPREME revealed no obvious abnormality. MOONBEAM DAZZLER was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination. MOONBEAM DAZZLER and LIGHTNING QUEEN, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of CASPER revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding returned having cast its near fore plate.

The Stewards rescinded the fine of RM100/- imposed on Trainer Nor Azman in the above race under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the colours on RIGHT TIMING (J Low) due to printers error for the colours in the race card.
