Minutes for Knights of Columbus meetingMay 4, 2016
Grand Knight’s report:
The meeting was lead by Grand Knight Bob Vess.
He thanked Alan Schuman, Matt Blanchette, and Andrew Masse for their efforts at the Pancake breakfast at St. Johns church.
Thanked the volunteers for the blood drive.
Made an announcement that Frank Golden was rushed to Hospice.
2 applications for new members were proposed by Matt Blanchette. Motion was passed to accept the applications.

Insurance Agent report: Frank Emanuel:
-Talked about a 60 Minutes report on Insurance companies that are unethical and do not pay out for legitimate claims.
-Knights of Columbus insurance company is in the top 4 in the most ethical insurance companies.
The District Deputy report: Dan Sanstrum:
-Anyone is invited to attend the state convention.
-2nd/3rd degree initiation will be held at St. Joseph’s school in New Britain on June 5.
Registration is 12:00 and ceremony is at 1:00 pm.

Committee reports:
-Building Committee: Alan Schumann:
- An attorney is questioning if the hall is zoned for business
- A church organization may be interested in the building.
-Diaper Drive: Bob Vess
Weekend of May 7th. Still working on which charity to donate the diapers to.
-Scholarship: JimGannuscio(2)$500 scholarships are available to siblings of current K of C members.So far only 1 application has been received. Deadline for submitting an application is June 1st.
The deadline for the Dick Czapiga Scholarship is May 30, 2016. No applications have been received.
-Blood Drive: Dick Coughlin: April 16 at K of C Hall in Cromwell.
- 33 pints of blood were donated
- Blood drive is in memory of Don Malaquias.
- 1 pint can treat 3 patients.
-Golf Tournament: Alan Schumann:
-The tournament is scheduled for June 18th at Hunter’s Golf course in Meriden CT
- Carmela’s restaurant will hold a meal after the golf tournament.
- Flyer’s will be given to the fire station to distribute.
-St John’s Church Picnic: Bob Vess: Scheduled for August 20th at Watrous Park. Volunteers are needed.
Unfinished Business:
-A motion was passed for $250 for Auction for Mohegan sun basketball tickets.
-A motion was passed for $200 for Dick Czapiga Scholarship.
New Business:
-Fred Mueller made a motion for $50 donation for Carl Douglas’s eagle scout project at Xavier High school.
-Stan Stachura proposed a list of officer’s for council 6 for next year.
For the Good of the Order:
Fred Mueller asked for prayers for serious surgery he will be undergoing.
