CertainTeed FiberCement Siding is cellulose fiber cement board made under high pressure with a factory-applied FiberTect® Sealing System that produces a less porous surface for better paint adhesion and consistency. It is less susceptible to warping, rot, and insect damage than wood, is non-combustible and has excellent freeze-thaw resistance. It is available factory sealed or factory finished with a wide range of solid color or stain colors. A standard 50-year limited transferable warranty includes CertainTeed's SureStart(tm) warranty protection that covers labor and materials for the first 2 years after installation. Supplemental warranty coverage for coatings is available from CertainTeed, for prefinished siding.

Horizontal siding is available in lap, beaded lap, and simulated shingle styles. Vertical siding in 4 by 8 foot, 4 by 9, 4 by 10 and 4 by 12 panels is available in stucco, smooth, cedar, and 8 inch grooved cedar styles. Soffit panels are smooth or cedar texture, ventilated and non-ventilated.

CertainTeed WeatherBoards are available with the following LEED Credit potential:

A. Recycled Content: FiberCement Horizontal Siding, Simulated Shingle, Vertical Siding and Soffit contain a minimum of 30 percent fly ash, a post-industrial (pre-consumer) recycled material.

B. Sustainably Harvested Wood: Horizontal Siding, Simulated Shingle, Vertical Siding, Soffit and trim contain a majority of wood fiber that has been certified to come from forests that have been managed sustainably (e.g. Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), etc.).

C. Durability: CertainTeed FiberCement products have excellent durability characteristics. Products are impervious to wood boring insects, resistant to UV radiation, have a Class 1(A) Fire Rating, will not rot, and have superior impact resistance. FiberCement products have a 50 year warranty, demonstrating CertainTeed’s confidence in the durability of their product.

D. Local Manufacturing: Using products that are produced locally decreases the environmental impacts associated with transportation, including the emission of greenhouse gases. Many of the raw materials used to manufacture FiberCement products are sourced from within 500 miles of our plants to reduce transportation impacts.

Surface Burning Characteristics: Flame spread index of 0, smoke developed index of 0, maximum; when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84.

Combustibility: Noncombustible, when tested in accordance with ASTM E 136, ULC S135 and ULC S114.

Flexural Strength: At least 1450 psi (10 MPa) when in equilibrium condition, and at least 1015 psi (7 MPa) when in wet condition, tested in accordance with ASTM C 1185.

Freeze Thaw Resistance: At least 80 percent flexural strength retained, when tested in accordance with ASTM C 1185.

Water Tightness: No water droplets on underside, when tested in accordance with ASTM C 1185.
