SOS Children’s Villages of India inaugurated its very first SOS Model Village in Bhuj

The organizationhas initiated their new concept Model Village Programme

Bhuj 12th May 2017: Today the first SOS Model Village launched at Reha in Bhuj. Under the umbrella of SOS Family Strengthening Program, SOS India has initiated their new concept Model Village Program with the vision to creation of “sustainable” rural communities that are able to generate and maintain the resources necessary to increase their level of wellbeing and happiness without depleting economic, social & environmental values. This program is aimed to convert the raw villages into a developed village through the joint contribution of SOS India and other partners in the span of 5 years. For initiating this program,SOS India selected REHA Village as their first project.

SOS Children’s Villages of India is a non-governmental organization committed to the care of children in need and protection. Started in the year 1964 at Greenfields in Faridabad, Hayana,India. SOS Children’s Villages of India celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014. Ever since its inception, the Organization has always been at the fore front in responding to the needs of abandoned & parentless children in the country by providing Family Based Care (FBC) services and has reached out to thousands of them. SOS India works towards prevention of child abandonment through their Family Strengthening Progromme (FSP).

Launching of a booklet on Model Village was also part of the event, which was attended by the chief guest ShriVasanbhaiAhir, Parliament Secretary, Reha community leader, President & Secretary General of SOS Children’s Villages of India, SOS Bhuj Family members and the families of the Reha Village community. A skit by children on 'Save girl child and Educate them' was the attraction of the event.

On the occasion the Ms. AnujaBansal, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India said, “The Model Village Plan is a natural next step in line with SOS Children’s Villages India’s current activities under the Family Strengthening Programme and presents a holistic mechanism of bringing about sustainability of a village community”
