In this opening event of POPagenda, music lovers can join in the music revelry with renowned and up and coming artistes. This music extravaganza features a line-up of local and regional artistes in non-stop, electrifying performances. In the park-like setting there will be 2 stages showcasing artistes which include Japan’s Aikawa Nanase, Korea’s Ryu, China’s China Magpie, Hong Kong’s Chet Lam and at 17, Taiwan’s Ji Xiao Jun and Singapore’s very own Tanya Chua, Chua Lee Lian, and 3Dash1. In addition, there will be about 20 other emerging, promising and established acts from Singapore and the region that will engage our audiences over the 2 days.
Other than performances, don’t miss the chance to hear industry professionals share their expertise and experience with aspiring musicians and music lovers across all ages. Come learn about how new technology has opened up new ways for music to be enjoyed, how to create and market music in DIY style, and even get your works assessed by the experts. Other than local veterans, there will also be well-known foreign producers and music-makers conducting forums and workshops.
Pop Village hopes to attract and encourage everyone to come and dip in the fun and excitement. Besides good music, there will be 40 booths serving great food and drinks, as well as music-related merchandise and most importantly, a festival village ambience waiting for all at the Fort Canning Park!

Rock Opera The Musical,A Rock Anthology is a Malay-language ethnic musical extravaganza that has gathered some of the best Malay talents in the local music and entertainment scene, including Sulaiman Ekbah, Siti Elfaezah Ul-haq, Azyza, Eka Mairina, and Anwar Hadi. The theme song is composed by the legendary M. Nasir. Through the life stories of rock musicians spanning two generations, Rock Opera The Musical touches on the themes of love, passion, ambition, family values and issues that are closely related to our roots.
Rock Opera The Musical is a continuation of the successful rock concert, Rock Opera - An Artiste Life which received overwhelming response in February 2005. The new musical production will feature original rock music compositions with ethnic and classical influence. It is led by renowned directors Osman Hamid (Artistic Director), Atin Amat (Director) and Sani Hussin (Co-Director). Penning the script is veteran writer Hanim MS, who also wrote the script of the first Rock Opera. Accompanying the cast will be a 50-piece orchestra led by Amri Amin, and a choir conducted by Shahril Salleh.

Be blown away by the raw energy of Rock D’Fort! The sequel to 2005’s highly successful Rock On Singapore event, Rock D’Fort presents an all new line up of fresh, bold sounds for those who live life on the edge. Appearing for the first time in Singapore are Bamboo (the Philippines), New Pants and Re-TROS (China) and Rock Tigers (Korea). Representing the creative and diverse sounds of the local scene are bands like Fatskunks, Tiet, Ugly in The Morning and West Grand Boulevard. In addition, new acts will get their chance to be discovered on the outreach stage at the Fort Gate. Together the bands will play music ranging from hard rock, punk rock, 50’s Rock & Roll to SKA, in English, Chinese and Malay. Increase your knowledge on music production and instruments at the comprehensive workshops which are open to the public.

The prelude to POPagenda.
Groove and jive to the beat of Bollywood music right in the heart of the city. Let Bollywood’s favourite rapper – the highly energetic Blaaze, and Bollywood’s Screen Awards and Star Dust Award winner, the enigmatic Kailash Kher and his Kailasaa band rock you with their freestyle Sufi music, spiced with global rhythms. Joining these talents are Mohamed Raffee, Singapore’s pioneer in the Indian music scene, Vasantham Star, Shabir, and Tribal Tide, one of Singapore’s leading World Music band, performing a rare mix of original and classic compositions, as well as popular Indian hit movie songs since the 60’s!
This musical extravaganza also includes a sizzling dance segment. So gear up in your colourful or traditional best; and head down in style.
