Apples and Columbus Last week we worked with apples across all subject areas. This week we will be doing many activities learning about Johnny Appleseed and Columbus. We will be reading many non-fiction books, and discussing the information learned. We will be doing an activity with Columbus discussing trading. On Tuesday we will be trading an item brought from home to get a better understanding. Please give thought to something your child would not mind trading. This could be an old toy, old book, a snack, etc. Information was sent home on Friday. Please make sure to bring the item on Monday. Please note your child will not bring back the item s/he brought but will bring a different item home.

ReadingThis week I will be reading several stories related to Johnny Appleseed and Christopher Columbus, and discussing the important information.

Spelling No spelling test this week There are words if you child would like to practice them, but no test.

WritingThis week we will write about Johnny Appleseed as well as Christopher Columbus!

MathWe’ll work on addition to 20 and strategies to aide in adding faster!We will be learning a cool doubles song.

Social StudiesThis week we learn about Christopher Columbus and do many activities about Columbus Day. We will be discussing maps,keys and the compass rose and we will be introduced to basic coding using Ozobot. We will create our own map that Ozobot will use.

Field Trip Information We will be going to Schnepf Farms on Thursday, October 27th. Thank you to those parents/grandparents who volunteered to help. More details about the trip will be coming after break.

LibraryAll books need to be returned before we go on break. Please help your child to remember to bring in his/her library book to school by Friday. Thanks!
