Texas Music Office Live Music GrantSolicitation

The Texas Music Office (TMO) of the Governor's Office is soliciting applications for the Texas Music Office Live Music Grant Program to provide free live music to the general public, including Texans who purchased one or more compact discs at retail during the period January 1, 1995 through December 22, 2000.

Available Funding: The grant awards will remain available until the settlement money distributed to the TMO by United States District Court (as part of the settlement from the Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust litigation) has been extinguished.

Funding Levels:

Minimum Amount - None

Maximum Amount – $1,500

Matching Funds – None

Required Match: No match is required for this program.

Standards: Grantees must comply with the standards applicable to this funding source, including:

  1. Grant funds must be used by the grantee to present <a musical act> at a cost of <up to $1,500> for a 90-minute performance that is open to attendance by all ages. 100% of funds must go to Texas musical acts.
  1. At least one musical act currently residing in Texas must provide the performance. To qualify as a Texas act, 80% of the members of the group must reside in Texas.
  2. Grant funds shall not be used for any other purpose not outlined in the Statement of Grant Award.

2.The grantee must be a non-profit organization or city/county government office.

3.Prior to disbursement of grant, the following conditions must be met:

  1. A performance described in Section 1 above must occur within 90 days of grant approval.
  2. Include one local record or instrument retailer as co-sponsor. If no local record or instrument stores are available, Grantee may propose a local retailer who may be substituted subject to TMO approval.
  3. Provide signage mentioning the retail co-sponsor at the concert.
  4. Provide a signed Statement of Grant Award and a signed Reimbursement Form, along with a signed contract evidencing payment for (at minimum) one 90-minute performance as described in Section 1 above.
  5. Provide proof of artists’ Texas residency through a Declaration of Texas Residency form and registration in the Texas Talent Register.
  6. Provide at least three photographs documenting the event, including the band(s) performing on stage, the audience and event signage.

4.The encumbered funds will be distributed based upon grantee’s compliance with the terms of the grant and actual expenditures incurred that are acceptable to TMO.

5.Grants will be awarded to the extent funding is available. Local non-profits are limited to 2 grants per year.

6.The Texas Music Office reserves the right to refuse any grant for any reason. cited in this Statement of Grant Award, and all statutes, regulations and guidelines applicable to this funding.

Project Period: Grant-funded projects will begin on or after November 1, 2011, and will expire when grants funds are extinguished.

Selection Process: Applications are reviewed by TMO staff members. TMO will make all final funding decisions based on the requirements established in the Texas Music Office Live Music Grant standards and requirements.
