Job Title:Camp Director
Reporting Relationship(s):
Reports directly to and takes direction from the Director of Summer Programs. May also take direction from the CFO and Head of School.

Position Summary:
A Camp Director is responsible for the direct care and supervision of all Team members and campers, customer service for campers and their families, development and evaluation of Team members, and the overall success of a Berkshire School camp.
Position Objective/Purpose:
We are seeking motivated leaders who believe deeply in the school’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision and management of youth as it pertains to this position, building positive relationships and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages.
Position Scope Factors:
Camp Directors are employed at the following camps:
- Day Camp: 3 – 9 yearolds
- Number of direct (summer/seasonal) reports: 5-15
- Baseball Residential Camp: 9 – 16 yearolds
- Number of direct (summer/seasonal) reports: 2-10
- Soccer Day and Residential Camp: 10 – 16 yearolds
- Number of direct (summer/seasonal) reports: 2-10
- Running Residential Camp: 9 – 18 yearolds
- Number of direct (summer/seasonal) reports: 2-10
Essential Job Responsibilities/Activities:
- Oversee Employee Relations including but not limited to staff hiring, performance management, terminations, exit interviews, worker’s compensation, and accident/incident reports
- Assist the Summer Programs Office withsourcing, interviewing, training, and retaining talent
- Provide leadership and execute camp
- Ensure compliance with county and state youth camp licensing requirements
- Monitor administration of all daily activities including the organization, supervision, and implementation of instruction
- Run daily operations of camp, creating a high-energy, fun and creative experience for campers and Team members
- Supervise camp staff
- Train Team members in day-to-day operations and provide ongoing training opportunities to Team members throughout the summer (i.e. professional development, safety drills, etc…)
- Implement and direct behavior management protocols for all campers on site
- Lead special recognition programs
- Conduct daily briefings
- Ensure all policies and procedures are maintained and upheld
- Attend all camp-related events
- Bolster morale on site
- Communicate with camp families through written and/or verbal contact
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities; act as liaison between camp and school
- Conduct end-of-summer staff evaluations
- Exhibit Berkshire School Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children in a supervisory or administrative capacity
- Successful experience with group facilitation skills and public speaking
- Performance management and facilitation experience (preferred)
- 2 - 5 years administrative/leadership experience (required)
- Staff supervision experience (required)
Education Requirements:
- Organizational or Educational Leadership degree (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in work experience

- The ability to manage multiple tasks and people simultaneously, with minimal supervision, in an environment subject to interruptions.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35Ibs
- Endurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day
- Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases)and climbing stairs
- Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position
