MANOR PARK LAKE

¨  ACCESS. If you arrive early and find the main gate locked please wait for your instructor, he will be able to gain access.

¨  FACILITIES

Courtesy of Manor Park Sailing Club you may use the changing room, toilets and showers in the clubhouse. You may also purchase items from the galley.

CAR PARK Please park all vehicles in the car park provided and walk along the track to the lake and canoe store.

¨  NOTES TO LEADERS AND SUPERVISORS

Safety

Please be aware that Manor Park Lake is very deep, the beaches shelve steeply. Under no circumstances must you allow any person to paddle or swim. All persons at the water’s edge or

on the pontoon must wear a buoyancy aid.

All participants who intend to canoe must be able to swim 50 metres and stay afloat in clothes for 5 minutes.

Supervision

All groups must have a minimum of 2 leaders prepared to stay on the beach to supervise any children not canoeing. The canoeing instructor is responsible for canoeists on the water, the group leaders will be responsible for supervision and assistance in the store and on the beach.

If weather conditions are not suitable it is the instructor’s decision as to whether or not canoeing/bell boating takes place.

Please leave the canoe store in a tidy condition ready for the next group. Return all paddles and kayaks to the racks.

DO NOT leave this job for the instructor.

Please hang all buoyancy aids on the rails provided after use.

It is the responsibility of the group leader to check that the changing room, shower area & toilets are left as you found them.

¨  WHAT TO WEAR

Arrive in the clothes you intend to canoe in. Depending on weather – shorts or joggers,

T shirt, sweatshirt, old trainers or pumps, windproof cagoule, waterproof overtrousers.

NO DENIM JEANS OR WELLIES.

Remember it is usually much cooler on the water than on the beach.

If you have to wear spectacles please attach them securely.

¨  WHAT TO BRING

A complete change of clothing, including socks, underwear and footwear, old towel.

¨  FEES - £25.00 per group per hour for kayaks & canoes.

£35.00 per group per hour for the Bell Boats

This is to include use of Manor Park Lake, toilets, changing room & shower, paddles and buoyancy aids etc stored in canoe store.

A contribution to the instructor’s expenses is also included in the above fee. You may wish to use your own instructors but there will be no reduction in fees.

¨  INSURANCE

Members of groups other than Guide and Scout Associations must arrange their own accident and liability insurance. No responsibility is accepted for any damage to or loss of personal property.
