DIRECTORS MONTHLY MEETING March – 2017

MINUTES OF THE 235th BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING FOR THE TOWN OF CALUMET FIRE DEPARTMENT HELD AT THE FIREHOUSE ON March 21st, 2017.

The meeting was called to order by President Jason Mueller at 7:29 pm with 5 directors present; Jason Mueller, Dave Nett, Nick Brownson, JR Mier, and Tim Horsch. Non directors present were Brian Schussman and Ken Haensgen.

The minutes of the February Directors’ meeting were read. Nick Brownson made a motion to accept the minutes as read, seconded by JR Mier, motion carried. The minutes of the March monthly meeting were read.

The treasurer’s report was given by Ken Haensgen:

Expenses: $60,619.31

General Fund: $0.00

Contingency Fund: $22,582.55

Total: $22,582.55

Income: $300.00

Expenses $912.29

Acct. Balance $17,311.14

Nick Brownson made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read, seconded by Dave Nett, motion carried. Nick Brownson made a motion to approve all present bills, seconded by JR Mier, motion carried.

Before the meeting went into department matters; Mike Immel went over the department policies and thanked the department for what we do for the community.

PRESIDENTS REPORT BY: Jason Mueller

Old Business:

·  The Board of Directors went over air compressor bids for the fire house. Nick Brownson made a motion to purchase an air compressor and 4 new tanks through Jefferson Fire, seconded by JR Mier, motion carried.

·  The Board went over lawn mowing bids; Nick Brownson made a motion to have Al Schmitz take care of the lawn needs for the fire house, seconded by Dave Nett, motion carried.

·  The Board went over tire bids for Engine 351’s tires, Dave Nett made a motion to take Nick Brownson’s bid of $64.00 for all tires, seconded by JR Mier, motion carried.

·  It was brought to the Board’s attention that an EMR member that has left the department has not returned their equipment. Brian Schussman will be looking into this matter.

New Business:

·  The Board looked at the donators list for the Pork Chop Dinner Raffle Ticket and will be asking for donations for this year’s ticket.

·  Nick Brownson made a motion to purchase 2 new pagers if needed for the 2017 year, seconded by Jason Mueller, motion carried.

·  The Board will be asking the membership if they would like to use money from the volunteer fund to help purchase the new air compressor.

·  Gear racking quotes were discussed; after discussion the idea was tabled for the time being.

·  Dan Casper brought quotes for a crane system for the UTV trailer; after discussion the idea was tabled.

·  A director brought up an idea of having drill requirements for being a RIT team member. Chief Schussman will bring it up at next FDL Chiefs Meeting.

·  Thank yous were read from Buddy Whitby’s family and New Holstein FFA.

CHIEFS REPORT BY: Brian Schussman

·  Aladdin Fire Protection will be testing air bottles soon.

·  Great Lakes will be testing the department’s ladders. The cost will be $2.50 per foot tested instead of $2.00 as stated in the past meeting.

·  Jason Ziegelbauer will be ordering a program to reprogram the department’s Kenwood radios.

·  A member who was taking the EMR course has failed the course; this member will be reimbursing the department for the course costs.

·  We will be taking pictures of the new turn out gear for the Fire Fighter Support Foundation who donated the grant that we received.

·  Tender 352 has a broken coolant filter housing and will be replaced.

·  A board member shared concerns about rumors that have been spreading around about a member and would like rumor to stop.

Being no further business, Dave Nett made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by JR Mier, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:17pm.
