Job Summary

The Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurial Representative is responsible for ensuring that technological resources are updated and available for BC student’s success and for assisting students who wish to pursue entrepreneurial enterprises while on campus. This representative also works closely and collaboratively with BC’sFoundation, Computing Services Director, and Vice President of Information Resources to bring new innovative technology to campus.

*The training for the position will be provided.

SALARY: Approximately $10,816 (based on $13/hour (pending approval), 16 hours/week)

Applications and all required documents must be submitted by 5pm Pacific Standard Time to the Student Programs Office in room C-212.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications at the end of Winter Quarter 2014;

  • 2.7 cumulative BC college-level GPA or 2.7 quarterly BC college-level GPA for the two (2) previous consecutive quarters. The GPA will default to whichever is highest.
  • Twelve (12) college-level credits within Bellevue Community. (If a student is on a reduced credit load as determined by BC administration, minimum requirement shall be the equivalent of one full time college level quarter.)
  • If hired, representative must relinquish their position as an officer in any BC club or program per the ASG By-Laws 5.1.4.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet, which includes the following*:

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with information technology, including computer hardware, software, and website design
  • Experience in technical communication and marketing techniques
  • Experience in working in a start up business or entrepreneurial environment
  • Working knowledge of pluralism and diversity

Essential Functions shall include but are not limited to:

  • Attend all ASG/Bellevue College/Student Programs training sessions and meetings, including but not limited to the Camp Casey Leadership Retreat, summer training, and quarterly retreats.
  • Serve on all assigned committees
  • Develop a working knowledge of, and adhere to the ASBC Constitution, ASBC By-Laws, ASBC Ethics Code, and ASBC Financial Code
  • Serve as Student Ambassadorto the student body
  • Conduct outreach to new and existing students by providing tours as needed
  • Aid the Peer-to-Peer program in their quarterly phone-a-thon effort
  • Emerging Technology:

Bring new and innovative technology to campus by workingcollaboratively and constructively with the Bellevue College

VP of Information Technology

Bellevue College Foundation

Assist clubs in the creation of club websites

Ensure the ASG website is up to date, both with content and design

Chair the Student Technology Fee Oversight Committee

Serve as advisor to ASG Executive Branch of Directors on technology and entrepreneurial opportunities

Liaison between the Web Services Team and the ASG

Monitor and moderate content on the Student Web

  • Entrepreneurial Role:

Work collaboratively and constructively with the BC Business Division Director to bring entrepreneurial opportunities on campus and provide students with hands-on entrepreneur opportunities as need.

Develop and initiate long-term on-campus projects

ASG ELECTION TIMELINE:Timeline is subject to change pending By-Law change and/or amendment.

  • Application OPENS February 6th, 2014
  • Application CLOSES March 21st, 2014
  • Completed applications and required documents must be submitted to the Student Programs Front Desk by 5pm March 21st (Room C-212)
  • All applications will be forwarded onto the Election Committee.
  • The Election Committee will review applications and information provided by each applicant, if the applicants do not meet the minimum requirements they will be disqualified.
  • Candidate orientations will be held from April 7th to April 11th 2014
  • Campaigning can start April 14th.
  • The ASG BBQ will be on April 15th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Carlson Theater (E-Building) courtyard. Campaign speeches will take place at this event, as well as a Q&A session with the Watchdog. Voting will open.
  • Voting will end on April 25th at 5:00 PM,
