Cwmtawe League Bowling Association

Title:

The Association shall be called The Cwmtawe Bowling Association and its headquarters shall be at Alltwen RFC or such other place as may be located.

Aims:

  1. The aim of the club shall be to foster the game of Outdoor bowls and to promote the good fellowship of its Members.
  2. To adopt and enforce the laws of the sport of bowls as laid down by the world bowls council (WBC) with such modifications as may be recommended by the British Isles bowls council, the Welsh Bowls Association (WBA) and Welsh Womens Bowls Association (WLBA)
  3. The assocation shall be affiliated to the Welsh Bowls Association.
  4. All games shall be played under the rules of the respective Welsh Bowls Association.
  5. To hold representative and friendly matches with other bowls club and associations.

Membership:

  1. The annual subscription of £15 must be paid by 1st June of each season.
  2. If you club is selected to represent the president team then an additional £20 is payed.
  3. The subscription fees will be reviewed annually at the Annual General Meeting.

Election of Officers:

  1. The following officers will be elected annually by the executive council, Chairman, Treasure, Secretary and League Secretary.
  2. The Vice chairman will be elected from the constituent clubs in alphabetic order and elevated to chairman the following season.

Executive Council:

  1. The executive council shall consist of one delegate or substitute from each affiliated club.
  2. No members of the council shall vote on any matters concerning with the club to which he is connected.

Duties of the Executive Council:

  1. To decide all protest- which shall be submitted to the association secretary in writing.
  2. To decide the venue of special matches which may be arranged.
  3. To decide all matters appertaining to the association.
  4. Non attendance to executive council meetings will incur a fine of £2

League Matches:

  1. League Fixures will be the responsibility of the League secretary.
  2. Games will be played on a home and away basis alternative years.
  3. All League fixtures to be played on a Tuesday evening, clubs can arrange to play on other evenings during the same week as the arranged fixture, but only with the agreement of both clubs involved.
  4. In the event of a postponement due to weather, the game must be rearranged within four weeks. The home side to offer alternative dates.
  5. The staring time for the league matches will be 6pm.
  6. The method of play will be four rinks of triples- played over 18 ends. A rink playing a man short shall suffer the penalty of the two remaining players playing four woods each and that total rink score be divided by a third from the total rink score. The opposing rink of three players will play nine bowls and always play first wood.
  7. The points for league fixtures will be awarded as follows
  • 6 points awarded to the winning team
  • 3 points awarded to each team drawing.
  • 2 points awarded to each winning rink
  • 1 point awarded to each drawn rink.
  1. The results of each league game to be forward by email or mobile. The Home team shall be responsible for ensuring the correct result is notified to league secretary within 48 hours of the game being played.
  2. In the event of a nonfulfillment of Fixtures, both clubs will be fined £5 :appeals against such fines will be heard by the executive council.
  3. Any fixture not played the non offending side will be awarded full points and 20 shots.
  4. The standard of dress will be grey trousers and white tops and bowling shoes.

Knockout Cup Matches:

  1. The draws will be made at the spring meeting.
  2. The games to be played complying with the league rules.
  3. In the event of a postponement due to weather, the game must be rearranged within 7 days. The home side to offer two alternative dates.
  4. In the event of a drawn game (in all games other then the final) the countback rule will apply. In the final all rinks will play an extra end(s) until a result is achieved.

Trophies:

  1. When the winning clubs of both the league and knockout cup competitions have been ascertained the executive committee will present trophies to the representatives of such clubs. These will be presented at the conclusion of the Knockout Cup Final.
  2. Representatives of all affiliated clubs are urged to attend this presentation.

Representative Matches:

1.The selection of association teams will be made by the requests from the executive council to member clubs to supply a rink, Request for supply of rinks will be made on a rota basis.

Annual Meetings:

2.The AGM of the association will be held by 31st October of each year and the spring meeting by 30th April each year

Amendment of Rules :

3.Notice of proposed alteration of rules shall be sent to the association secretary in writing with the name of the club proposing alterations, two weeks prior to the AGM or special AGM called for this reason only.
