SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant coordinates activities to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records of PMHC.Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

  1. Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices, checks, and substantiating business transactions.
  1. Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as vouchers, invoices, duplicate checks, etc. Computes and records refunds, leases and similar items.
  1. Performs general ledger accounting tasks such as recording recurring journal entries and generating journal entries for capital assets, accruals, prepaids, payroll, leases and notes payable.
  1. Ensures integrity of system through scheduled reconciliation procedures.
  1. Adheres to month-end close schedules; all entries and reconciliations finished in a timely manner.
  1. Designs, maintains, and runs financial reports.
  1. Works closely with departments to monitor activity in comparison with budgets. Assists in developing yearly operating and capital budgets.
  1. Collects statistical data. Assists in data collection for Quality Assurance/Improvement.
  1. Assists with preparations for the annual audit, cost report, and tax forms.
  1. Prepares reports required by governmental and regulatory agencies.
  1. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reports directly to the Controller.
  2. Works independently with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  1. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university with two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of educationand experience.
