The Ronald McDonald House
Houses families who have a child with a life threatening illness that have to travel out of town to a hospital to treat their child. These families are often low on resources and have no where else to stay. The Ronald McDonald House is their home away from home and volunteers are needed to help maintain it. You can greet families, help clean the house, prepare food, do clerical or data entry and much more.

The Philadelphia Zoo
They accept teen volunteers up to retired people who want something to take up their time. They accept volunteers who can only volunteer a few times or on a regular basis. Before volunteering, you will have to pass a child abuse test and a criminal background check. Volunteers help greet the public, answer questions, work with paid zoo workers in exhibits, etc.

Lutheran Settlement House

“We Feed The Homeless Philly”
Volunteers will help with setting up, serving food, and cleaning up after serving the homeless in Philadelphia. Join the team any Saturday. Our biggest need is always sandwiches. Volunteers can make and bring: sandwiches (peanut butter and jelly or lunchmeat (2 slices of meat, one slice of cheese with no mayo or mustard placed in sandwich baggies), snacks, fresh fruit. Must be 15 or older. Every Saturday. Setup time is 11:00am; serve meals from 11:30am-1:30pm.

A variety of volunteer opportunities exist, and whether part of the planning committee or event day festivities each person makes a difference. Distribute packets at pre-event packet pick up.
