Counseling into the Future
2nd Annual Counseling Graduate Student Conference
University of South Carolina – Columbia
The Upsilon Sigma Chi chapter of Chi Sigma Iota will be holding its 2nd Annual Counseling Graduate Student Conference on March 1, 2008 from 9:00am until 5:30pm. All of the presentations which are scheduled are from CACREP accredited programs located in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
This conference will display current graduate-level research which seeks to expand the diverse body of knowledge that is counseling. The conference is endorsed by the South Carolina Counseling Association (SCCA), is NBCC approved, and attendance will merit CEUs.
Our keynote speaker will be Kathy Evans Ph.D., Associate Professor of Counselor Education at the University of South of Carolina and President of the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES).Dr. Evans will address the key role of social advocacy in the profession.
Although we would prefer that interested attendees register in advance, all who are interested in attending will be permitted to register on the day of the conference.
This is an excellent opportunity to view the research focus of current graduate students who are paving the way and carving out their niche in the field. Presentations will be made by Masters and Ed. S.-level students as well as Ph.D. candidates. Our conference will also provide a unique snapshot of the practitioners who will be entering the field in the near future.
The conference will be located in the College of Education (Wardlaw) which is located on Sumter Street and is bordered by College and Greene Street. Parking will be free both behind the College of Education and at any of the meters surrounding the building.
