David E. Norman ES Summary for January 31, 2017
On January 31, 2017, two professional development trainings were held with the school’s leadership team. During one of the sessions, a board member attended as a liaison to the district. The training centered on the components of school improvement pertaining to AdvancED Standards for Quality and the AdvancED Diagnostic Review Improvement Priorities, state priorities, and the school’s improvement plan. AdvancED tools were reviewed as well as the Nevada Educator Performance Framework Standards. An emphasis was placed on school culture and communications as well as a principal led review of the school improvement plan. The principal also presented the proposed district improvement plan for next year. The school’s leadership team agreed that further staff discussion of the improvement plan was warranted. The plan will also be reviewed during an upcoming parent advisory meeting. It was noted that a number of parents were listed as taking part in the current school improvement plan. The leadership team was pleased that a number of action steps in the plan have been put in motion. The first progress report from an AdvancED visit was discussed with the principal. During an earlier phone conference, the report was reviewed and plans were made for the January 31, 2017 professional training.
