To start up Microsoft Excel through Windows 7:
Click on the start button or the Microsoft Icon.
Select all programs
Select Microsoft Office
Select Microsoft Office Excel 2007.
This is what the spreadsheet tool looks like when you open up the tool.
The spreadsheet is labeled with rows and columns. The columns start with the letter A and go on and the rows start with the number 1 and go on till the end. Each row and column element is called a cell. You can enter in numeric values, characters, text strings, formulas and other sets of information.
There are menu items on top.
There is Home tab: that allows the user to utilize the clipboard, change fonts, format alignments for text, formats numbers, styles, insert, delete and format cells and editing them.
The Insert tab: Allows the user to setup Pivot Tables, Tables, Illustrations, Charts, Links and Text.
The Page Layout tab: Consists of Setting up Themes, Page Setup, Scale to Fit, Sheet Options, and Arrange.
The Formula tab: Consists of Function Library, Defined Names, Formula Auditing and Calculation.
The Data tab: Consists of Get External Data, Connections, Sort and Filter, Data Tools and Outline.
The Review tab: Consists of Proofing, Comments and Changes.
The View tab: Consists of Workbook Views, Show/Hide, Zoom, Window and Macros.
A couple of notes:
There are the scroll bars that allow the user to see lower or higher parts of each sheet.
The sheet can increase or decrease the size of the text by either moving the slide on the slide ruler or clicking on the + or – buttons in the right hand corner.
There are different views one can display by clicking on the three button icons next to the size display function.
There are arrows facing left and right with a pipe in front of it. That allows one to see the first or last page of the sheets and the arrows facing left or right without the pipe in front of it allows one to move from the first sheet to the second sheet and so on until the last sheet is reached.
