CLASSROOM INFORMATION:

  1. Communication:

*Each classroom has a file folder system to assist teachers in communication.

*Each classroom will have a designated bulletin area for parent communication.

*You will receive Newsletters/Calendars by email on a monthly basis.

  1. Classroom discipline:

*For a child not cooperating in a group situation, the teacher or assistant will first attempt to give a quiet reminder to the child. Removal from the group for a period of “time away” is the next step used for a child who continually demonstrates unacceptable or disruptive behavior. This “time away” is not a punishment, but rather a time when the child may calm down, remember what the teacher is asking for, and decide for him or herself when he or she is ready to rejoin the group with appropriate behavior. If a behavior problem persists, the parents will be asked to a conference to discuss what may be helpful in motivating their child to behave in a God-pleasing and acceptable way.

  1. School Supplies/Extra Clothing:

*You will receive a supply list from you classroom teacher.

*Due to the possibility of spills or accidents we do ask that your child have an extra set of seasonally appropriate clothing and underclothing at school.

  1. Parent Involvement:

*Any parent or family member is invited and encouraged to join us in the classroom at any time.

*There may be specific times through out the year that we will ask for your help.

  1. Field Trips:

*We will use the church vans for transportation. We will supply booster seats.

*We will do our best to notify you of all field trips in our monthly correspondence.

*We will do our best to post reminders of these field trips on our parent communication bulletin areas.

*Parents are welcome to join us on field trips. You may meet us at our destination,

*Tuesday/Thursday classes may be limited to 1 or 2 field trips during the year. Pre 3 classes will NOT participate in field trips.

  1. Room Parents/ Classroom Parties/Holidays:

*There may be opportunity for you to volunteer as Room Parent at the beginning of each school year.

*Room parents are asked to organize three classroom parties during the school year under the supervision of the classroom teacher. (One at Christmas time, one near Valentine’s Day and one near Easter.)

*We do not celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter from a secular point of view. Instead, we focus on the spiritual significance of these special events.

  1. Birthday Treats OR Snacks:

*You are welcome to celebrate your child’s birthday at school with special treats. Please ask you teacher about CAKES AND CUPCAKES. Please NO drinks with red dyes.
