Current Events: Thanks so much for getting the Report Card Envelopes returned so quickly! We are glad to welcome spring on Monday and we had a practice fire drill to start off the week! At 9:45 on Tuesday, we had our practice tornado drill. Over break, please remember to get some plastic eggs to fill so that after break, your child’s 6 treat filled eggs can be sent to school. If you wish to send more than 6, that’s fine, too. That just gives us more eggs to find.

Language Arts: The children have been working on writing a narrative paragraph about how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Starting by sequencing the pictures, then putting the sentence strips in order to match the pictures.

Math:Money, money, money has been our focus. The children have sorted, practiced values, and added pennies and nickels, dimes and penniescounting dimes, nickels, and pennies as we find the values with these coins. Please practice at home with change to give the children reinforcement of what we are learning. Try giving your child change each night to sort, name the value, and practice counting from the coin of the greatest value. If your child finds it easy to add the pennies, nickels, and dimes, you can challenge his/her skills by adding the quarter. On Wednesday, April 5th, we will have our test on money concepts.

Science: After looking at real pants, the children read and discussed the different plant parts and the job of each plant part in their Scholastic News: “Amazing Plants.”

Social Studies: Continuing our study of famous American, Ben Franklin,we have been reading stories to gather more factual information, watching a Power-point on his life, seeing a time line, and making a list of is his most important contribution.
