Registration of Foreign Citizens in the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Registration of foreign citizens with interior authorities must be completed within 5 daysfollowing their arrival in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The registration procedure has been amended as follows. Citizens of Australia, Austria, Belgium, UK, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, USA, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, France, Germany, Japan and Republic of Korea may be get registration in their passports when receiving visas from Kazakhstan's consulates abroad or when passing the passport check-points at 12 international airports of Kazakhstan, provided that there are 2 stamps.
After a passport is registered with a consulate abroad or at a check-point at one of the 12Kazakhstan international airports, there is no need to approach any police authorities forregistration. If a foreign citizen fails to have registration with such check-points at 12international airports, he/she may pass registration with migration police at the place of his/her stay.
All foreign citizens arriving in the Republic of Kazakhstan areissued registration for a period of up to 1 month with the rightof extension for the same period.Citizens of the Customs Union member countries - Russia andBelarus, are issued registration for a period of up to 90 dayswith the right of extension for the same period.
To have registration, foreign citizens need to present:
- International passport;
- Migration card (issued when crossing the Kazakhstan border);
- Valid Kazakhstan visa in passport;
- Address of temporary stay;
- Payment of fee.
Staying beyond the registration period or presenting a passport later than 5 days after arrival results in an administrative penaltyAstana City Interior Department's summary: up to 30 days forthose who have 'business' stated as a purpose of travel also amigration card must bear 2 stamps.
