Afternoon Helen,

The client has informed that any applicant must have seismic experience, and have held their own watches. Do you have any additional NZ Master or Chief Mates available… I think we have had 2 chief mates apply at this stage.

No arrangement has been made with the client regarding NZ manning, as this would be a contradiction to the notice we send to the unions, and the process that then needs to be followed with Immigration NZ.

At this stage we plan on closing off the application on the 5 January 2015, for crew to join now upon arrival NZ, ETA 20/01/15. This should hopefully give more time for personnel to submit CV’s.

Thanks Larry

Did you find out whether our official will be able to conduct the inspection within his available dates?

A few more questions:

1. Has SOL made any agreement with the client, or quoted on the basis that there will be a certain number of New Zealand employed, e.g. That second mates only will be employed here, or that there will be no NZ Chief Officer or no NZ master?

2. Before you collate all the NZ cv’s and see the levels of experience, can you please confirm asap what level of seismic experience you mean below, and for which ranks?

Thanks.

Morning Helen,

Thanks for the reply.

Tania is in the process of ringing the “Guild List” at present, and trying to seek as many CV’s as possible, to submit to the client. I shall be happy to supply you a list of names that we have contacted, and if you have any further names than those on the current list, please get them to forward their CV’s ASAP.

It is not ideal in regards to the notice period, though as we are all aware something that we have to deal with at times.

In relation to the clients Master / Officers, it will be easier to revert on that point, once we have collated and sent off the CV’s, on feedback from the client, I shall be able to give you an update.

Unfortunately the max POB 60, does not allow for extra or supernumerary positions on board, and the extra 2 bunk spaces over and above the seismic crew positions, I believe are for the Marine Environmental Observer and the client rep.

I could not see the dates you have indicated for your official to inspect being an issue… I shall try and get a confirmed timing.

Hello Larry

Thanks for your message. We have circulated our members and there should be a number sending in their cv’s by now. It’s very short notice though, so please make sure that the applicants are all offered second swing dates to join. Also we need opportunities for offshore experience, and a cadet would be fantastic too. If the owner/client wants to retain any of its officers/master we would not object to supernumerary work visas for those people.

Regarding the union official inspection – one of our officials could go around 4, 5 Jan but would have to leave on 6 Jan to be back at work by 7 Jan. Not sure if that would work. What are your thoughts on that?
