INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION1. / The Project covers US 12543 SO2; AC1; 11336 SO2; AC3; 11337 SO2; AC2, SO3; AC2,3; 11335 SO5; AC1,2,3.
2. / This is an individual task.
3. / The activity should be completed within a period of THREE weeks.
4. / You are expected to design a safety and awareness booklet for a group of tourists that are visiting South Africa for the first time.
5. / You will need the following resources to do this project:
· FIVE A5 blank pages to do the task.
· Paper glue.
· A blue pen or a black pen.
· Colouring pencils.
· Different pictures on tourism signs, icons, symbols or facilities.
6. / Staple or put the A5 blank pages together in the form of a booklet.
7. / Number the pages of the booklet from page 2 to 5 on top of each page. Page 1 is the cover page of your booklet.
8. / You can obtain information and pictures from the following sources: books, magazines, brochures, newspapers, library, the internet, visits to travel agents, all tourism sectors and information sites.
9. / Use the guidance provided below to complete the information on each of the FIVE pages.
ACTIVITY 1 – Cover page.
The following information must appear on this page:
· The words: SAFETY AND AWARENESS TIPS written boldly.
· Picture of the South African flag or a proudly South African icon.
· Name of your town.
· Emergency numbers of the police and the ambulance services.
· Design a border and decorate your front page colourfully using the colours of the national flag. / [10]

You are given a list of questions that tourists always ask about South Africa. On the second page of your booklet draw a table like the one below. Then give the answers to these questions.

· The meaning of the pictures, icons or signs must be written below or next to the picture.
· These are possible examples that can assist you: No smoking, No pets allowed, etc. / [10]

· The meaning of the pictures, icons or signs must be written below or next to the picture.
· These are possible examples that can assist you: parking for the handicapped , male toilet, restaurant, etc. / [10]
