Summary:
- Meeting commenced at 6:30pm with the Opening Prayer.
- Chair/Co-Chair
- Scoreboard Review
- Due to the large purchase, board policy dictates that 2 quotes from competing companies will be obtained
- Council plan for purchase: 1 large, wall mounted scoreboard (~$8000) and 1 portable scoreboard (~$500)
- New Uniform Provider
- Hoodies (zip-up and pullover) will be added to the approved uniform items
- All sizes ranges available (youth through to adult)
- A reminder to all students and parents; students are expected to be in uniform at all time, therefore if the sweatshirt is removed during the day, the expectation of a uniform remains
- 5 year anniversary celebration
- 5 year anniversary of St. Mary’s school occurs in September 2017
- Council committee will discuss celebration options
- Starlight Festival
- The Starlight festival will be held on June 1st, 2017 and council will be exploring food trucks for the celebration
- Vendors will be asked to display allergies and “may contain” signs to inform the school community
- Entertainment to be explored: carnival games, arcade trucks, balloon artist, magician, DJ
- As a council it was discussed that we are unable to hold an event that is solely dependent on volunteers, as our volunteer community wishes to enjoy the festival with their families
- Council will explore the option of Loyola high school students as volunteers
- End of Year Video presentation
- Starlight festival will be the kick off for the 5th anniversary
- Parent dance off video discussed
- Shrove Tuesday
- Tuesday, February 28th
- Fr. Mark will be in attendance to bless our chapel and joy in the celebration
- Principal’s Report
- New website
- The new school website will include regular announcements, newsletter and stories from the classrooms
- Committee Discussions
- Focus on Faith
- Chapel will be enhanced with signal, lighting and mats
- A mural will be explored for the grade 1-3 entrance
- Improvement
- Family Math night will be Thursday, February 16th at 6:30pm
- Math curriculum consultant, math facilitator and math itinerant will be in attendance
- Parent Engagement
- Discussed increasing parent involvement in the school community
- Discussed proceeding with the food trucks for the Starlight Festival
- Environment
- Discussed capturing a 5 year photo of the school
- Options presented of a “dinner and movie night”
