LANTERN RESTAURANT LUNCH MENU
The role play will begin as you enter the restaurant. You need to
- ask if there is a table free
- begin and end the conversation with the waiter/waitress politely and appropriately
- deal with payment
You will be ordering 2 three course meals, one for you and one for your friend who does not speak English.
- You must order different dishes for both of you in each course.
- Your friend would like roast meat, but wants to know what meat is on offer today.
Make sure that you study the menu carefully; the waiter/waitress may say something unexpected
WAITER/WAITRESS
When asked tell the customer
what the soup of the day is ……………………. tomato

Ask if the customer wants anything to see the wine list
Deal with payment
Ask if the customer enjoyed the meal
TABLE D’HOTE DINNER MENU

- You must find out what the soup of the day is
- Your friend is allergic to dairy produce
- You do not like fish

BAR MENU
You will go to the bar to order your meal, using polite and appropriate language
You have a budget of £25 for 2 people, you and your friend who does not speak English.
- You must spend at least £20
- You will both have at least 3 dishes and a hot drink
- Your friend does not eat meat

WAITER/WAITRESS
Ask whether the customer would prefer French fries or potatoes, where appropriate
Ask whether the customer would prefer white or wholemeal bread for sandwiches
Ask how the steak should be cooked
Tell the customer what today’s special dish is………..mushroom stroganoff
Tell the customer that one of the dishes chosen is not available
