Course of study

We will be covering the new 7th grade SEEd Science Standards put out by the Utah State Board of Education.

Supplies needed each day-

Each student will need the following supplies

·  Composition note book (not spiral bound) to be left in class

·  Lined Paper

·  Pencil and/ or pen

·  Folder specifically for this class

Attendance policy-

I will be following the district and school policy on attendance and tardies. If you are not in your assigned seat with your bell work notebook when the bell rings you are tardy and will be marked tardy on the rolls.

Blog

I have a blog where I will post daily bell work, assignments, notes, and rubrics (scoring guides) that can be downloaded from your home computer. http://blog.weber.k12.ut.us/lodaniels/

Grading-

I do not give you a grade you earn your grade by doing assignments, projects, participating in class and taking tests. This year all test must be retaken until student reaches a minimum 75% proficiency. Students should come in before or after school for all retakes.

Classroom Rules

·  Be prepared and respectful

·  Stay in your assigned space

·  Keep your hands and materials to yourself

·  Follow directions

·  Do not bring toys of any kind to class

I wish to create a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable sharing ideas and thoughts. In order for this to occur, students need to treat each other with respect and refrain from any behavior that belittles or humiliates another student.

ßI reserve the right to deal with students on an individual basis.

Makeup work-

Makeup work is work that you missed because you were absent during my class. It is your responsibility to come in before or after school to get the assignments you missed, get them completed and turned in. You have 5 days after you are absent to complete the work and turn it in for full credit. After the 5 days the work may still be turned in but it will not be worth full credit.

Late work-

Late work is any assignment that is turned in after 3:00 pm on the day that it is due. I will accept late work up until the cut off for the end of the quarter but it is only worth full credit on the day it is due. I encourage my students to make every effort to turn in assignments on time and avoid any loss of credit. Late work will be recorded on the regularly scheduled update day each week not necessarily the day it is received.

·  Assignments are worth 100% on the day they are due.

·  After the due date the assignment is worth 70% for one week.

·  I have an assignment extension form that students may fill out in advance to extend the due date due to unexpected event. They are available in my room and must be submitted no less than 3 school days before the assignment is due. All extensions are subject to approval.

·  I reserve the right to apply this policy on a student by student basis.

Keeping track of your students progress-

The district has gone to great lengths to make keeping track of your student’s progress as easy as possible. Attendance and assignment scores can be checked daily on the district portal.
