Dear Families,

Brrrr! It is so cold out! The snowstorm is on its way. If we get enough snow to make a snowman, and your family makes one then please email me a picture of your snowman. I would love to share it with the class or even put it on my teacher page.

Next week we will continue to work on uppercase letters. Please continue to review the sight word flashcards that are coming home. We have been working on using them in sentences. We finished topic 8 and started topic 9. Topic 9 focuses on ways to make all the numbers up to 10. In reading, we are working on retelling the story. When reading with your child at home, please ask them what happened in the beginning, middle, and end. Ask them about characters and setting.

The 100th day of school is coming up. As of now, it should be Thursday, Feb. 11. If we have snow days it will change. I will send home more information when it gets closer. Our Valentine’s Day party is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12. If you are sending in Valentine’s please make sure you have 14 of them, so no one is left out, and make sure you DO NOT SEND IN ANY EDIBLE ITEMS! I recommend you don’t write names on them, just your own child’s name so we know who it’s from. It’s easier to distribute them.

Starting next week there will be a change in the homework! Tuesday and Thursday will stay the same, but now I will be adding a math sheet on Wednesday. Please complete all homework and return it the next day. I also want to ask that you talk to your children on Sunday nights discussing what they did that weekend. Every Monday morning I ask the students to share what they did. Discussing it the night before will help to prepare them.

Enjoy the weekend!

Here are a few reminders:

·  Friday, Jan. 29 is Freaky Friday (students dress like teachers and teachers dress like students)

·  Please practice Raz Kids
