Don’t forget – ordinations on June 11
Five people in the diocese will be ordained on Saturday, June 11 at Grace Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Ave. in Topeka. The service begins at 10:30 a.m., and a reception will follow.
The Rev. Doreen Rice will be ordained as a priest, and Mary Becker, Jim Cummins, Greg Doll and Charles Everson will be ordained deacons. Becker and Cummins will serve their ministry as deacons. Doll and Everson will serve as transitional deacons, on their way toward ordination as priests. Rice was ordained a transitional deacon last June.
Clergy are invited to attend (alb and red stole) and walk in procession. Please be in the lower level parish hall by 10 a.m. to vest and line up.
A few spots are still available at Episcopal Summer Mega Camp
198 campers are already signed-up, but there’s still room for up to 25 more.
Camp is June 5-11 at Camp Wood YMCA and is open to those currently in grades 3-12, and their friends. (Note: we are out of space for senior high boys.)
The cost is $450 for the week.
The volunteer Episcopal staff provides solid Christian education, featuring worship, music, small group discussions and prayer. Camp Wood features a variety of activities, such as horseback riding, archery, climbing tower, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, water slide, mud slide, arts and crafts, and sports.

Clergy and youth ministers are invited to camp MegaEucharist
Clergy and youth ministers in the diocese who aren’t able to be at camp for the whole week are invited to the Camp MegaEucharist on Wednesday, June 8, at 8 p.m. at Camp Wood YMCA near Elmdale, southwest of Emporia.
Bishop Dean Wolfe will be presiding, and nature will offer a beautiful sunset.

BKSM to offer pre-marriage counseling workshop July 6-7
The Bishop Kemper School for Ministry will offer PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator training on Wednesday, July 6-Thursday, July 7. The Rev. Andrew O’Connor, rector of Good Shepherd, Wichita, will teach this course, which meets in Topeka.
For 35 years, PREPARE/ENRICH (https://www.prepare-enrich.com/) has been the Number 1 guide for helping couples prepare for marriage as they explore and strengthen their relationships.The facilitator curriculum willprovide current and future clergy with the skills and credentials needed to:
· administer the online assessment;
· interpret couples' reports;
· provide useful feedback to couples;
· guide couples' exercises;
· teach proven relationship skills; and
· work more effectively with couples.
This workshop is being offered mid-week to make it more convenient for clergy to attend. It will begin late afternoon on Wednesday and wrap up by mid-afternoon on Thursday. Exact details will be sent to those who register.
The cost is $180 per person, which includes meals and overnight accommodations at Upton Hall. Participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Grace, Ottawa invites all to Aloha Sunday
The annual “Aloha Sunday” at Grace, Ottawa, takes place June 12, and all members of the diocese are invited to attend. Hawaiian attire is welcomed for all attending.
A service of Holy Eucharist begins at 10:15 a.m. and will feature a visitation from Bishop Dean Wolfe. After the service, all are invited to stay for a luau luncheon on the parish lawn.
No reservations are needed – just come and enjoy a fun summer event.
Wear orange on June 2 for Gun Violence Awareness Day
People across the country will wear orange clothing on June 2 as a sign of the call for an end to gun violence.
The “Wear Orange” campaign has been endorsed by Bishops United Against Gun Violence, a group of nearly 60 Episcopal bishops who seek ways to reduce gun violence in the United States and to advocate for policies and legislation that save lives.
Orange was selected because it signifies the value of human life; hunters wear orange clothing to protect themselves and others.

Episcopal Relief & Development provides information about the Zika virus
Across the U.S., Episcopalians are gearing up for summer activities. But this summer, with concerns about the Zika virus moving north into the continental United States, new questions are popping up.
Responding to these concerns, Episcopal Relief & Development assembled a task force of experts to create resources that would help Episcopalians in the U.S. respond appropriately.

Episcopal Public Policy Networks offers election engagement tools
The Episcopal Church’s Office of Government Relations, through the Episcopal Public Policy Network, is offering tools and resources for Episcopal congregations and individuals interested in engaging in the election this year.
Offerings include an Election Engagement Toolkit featuring information on nonpartisan activities, an Episcopal Pledge to Vote and opportunities for advocacy on voting rights.

Student Theological Debate Society seeks Debate Camp applications
SUMMA Student Theological Debate Society, sponsored by the Beecken Center, invites high school students entering grades 9-12 to apply for the 2016 session of SUMMA Debate Camp, which takes place July 18-26 at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.
SUMMA is a unique opportunity for students to explore their faith through intellectual channels, meet new friends and have a lot of fun on a beautiful college campus. Students at the camp will learn skills for debate, public speaking and theological exploration.
The cost to attend is $750, which includes room, board and all materials. One student will be awarded the SUMMA prize for best exemplifying the spirit of the camp; the prize comes with a $1,000 scholarship.

Diocesan office to be closed for Memorial Day
The diocesan office in Topeka will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, May 31 with regular office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
