1.  About Office of the Controller of Accounts, Orissa?

The office of the Controller of Accounts,Orissa was set up in 1991 vide Finance Department Resolution No. 45220/F Dated 06.12.91.Earlier it was functioning as part of the Directorate of Treasuries with Addl. Director of Treasuries in charge of Controller of Accounts,Orissa from 1982 to 1991. It became a separate “Head of Department” in 1994 vide Finance Department Order No. 24103/F Dated 06.07.94.

The main function of the office includes (i) Maintenance of GPF Accounts and issue of authorities for final withdrawal from GPF accounts of deceased & retired employees (ii) Authorization of pensionary benefits of employees of Aided Educational Institutions including primary schools along with administration of pension fund of Sambalpur and Berhampur Universities.

4.  When can a Govt. Servant become a member of GPF?

i)On completion of six months of regular service
ii)Likelihood of continuing in Government Service.

5.  How many times can a subscriber enhance his contribution to GPF?


Twice in a year.

6.  How many times can a subscriber reduce his contribution to GPF?

Once in a year.

7.  What is the minimum and maximum rate of subscription for GPF?

A subscriber can subscribe towards GPF a sum (in whole rupees) as fixed by him/her, subject to minimum 6% of emoluments and not more than his/her total emoluments (i.e. Basic Pay+ D.P. + D.A.).

8. What to do for missing credits in my GPF account?

You may represent your case through the Drawing and Disbursing officer giving full information about the missing credit such as month of credit, name of the DDO , Treasury , Challan No. , Challan Date and duplicate copy of the bill along with schedule to enable the office of the Controller of Accounts to rectify and adjust your missing credit amount.

During the last 3 months of service.
