Alexander Marion is the Vice President Nuclear Operations in the Nuclear Generation Division of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). Mr. Marion is responsible for leadership and oversight on generic engineering and plant operational issues involving the functional areas of health physics and low-level radioactive waste, used fuel management, and engineering and operations support. Mr. Marion joined NEI at its formation in 1994 and has held previous management positions with responsibility for Engineering, Licensing and Programs Departments.

NEI is the organization responsible for establishing unified nuclear industry policy on matters affecting the nuclear energy industry, including regulatory aspects of generic operational and technical issues. NEI members include all utilities licensed to operate commercial nuclear power plants in the United States, nuclear plant designers, major architect/engineering firms, fuel fabrication facilities, materials licensees, and other organizations and individuals involved in the nuclear energy industry.

Prior to the formation of NEI, Mr. Marion was with Nuclear Utility Management and Resources Council (NUMARC) for from 1988 to 1994 as Manager in the Technical Division. Before joining NUMARC, Mr. Marion spent fifteen years at Baltimore Gas and Electric Company where he held various positions in the electric engineering department including activities in industry codes and standards, plant electrical design, and licensing and safety issues.

Mr. Marion graduated from John Hopkins University with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and he has a M.S. degree in Information Management from George Washington University.

Mr. Marion has been involved in many industry committees and groups. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Board on Nuclear Codes & Standards, Operations & Maintenance Committee, and Special Committee on Standards Planning; Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Nuclear Power Engineering Committee, the IEEE Engineering Management Society; the American Nuclear Society, and was a past member of the Engineering Society of Baltimore and the Instrument Society of America.
