This Week:

During February, we celebrate Black History Month, a month to honor the contributions of African Americans to United States history. Today’s Black History Month contemporary bio comes to us by way of the History Department:

Cornel West is a political activist, author and university professor who is known for his writing and commentary about racial and sociopolitical phenomena. The essays in the best-selling Race Matters (1993) focused on the plight of struggling African Americans. West's major written works have since included The Future of the Race (1997), written with Henry Louis Gates Jr., Democracy Matters (2004) and a memoir entitled Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud (2009).– JS

Student Council will meet TODAY in room 125 after school. We need lots of hands! - TM

The Environmental Club will be meeting TODAY after school, in room 232, to recycling and to discuss future projects. All are welcome. – MEA

The ESL Buddies Club will meet Wednesday, February 24 after school in Room 015. Come one, come all! – RN

Humanities Resource Club is sponsoring a book drive collecting gently used children's books in history classes. The books will be donated to NJ schools in need. - EM

It is time to purchase your Junior Prom ticket online! Purchase a ticket for you and a guest to attend this wonderful event. Just visit North's Thundertix website to purchase a ticket before February 28th! Any questions, see Mrs. Schaefer and Mr. Owdij! - MO

Attention Freshmen Class of 2019. Your T-shirts are now available for purchase. Order forms can be found online or in the athletics office. Please return order forms to the box labeled Class of 2019 in the Athletics office by FRIDAY. – NH

Tickets for Sweeney Todd, this year’s Winter Musical, are now available online! In order to purchase tickets, send a message to , and all necessary information will be emailed to you. Don’t miss this incredible and horrifying musical! - KM

The National Art Honor Society is doing an art supply drive for SAFE in Hunterdon organization. SAFE in Hunterdon provides support services for families (adults, teens, and children) who have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence in their lives. The art supplies that we collect from this drive will go to their art therapy program. We are asking for new and slightly used art supplies as donations. Some examples of donations are, drawing books, marker sets, crayon boxes, rulers, glue, and paint. A box will be labeled and located in all of the art rooms. - RC

Would you like to receive recognition for the community service that you have done over the last year? If so, you should apply for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Check out the Community Service tab on the Gifted and Talented web site for more information and the application. Complete applications are due to Ms. Gorton on March 4th. - JG
