Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information –NHS North Tyneside CCG

Thank you for your request received by North of England Commissioning Support (NECS) on 03 June 2016 for information held by NHS North Tyneside CCG under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Details of request/NECS reply:-

1. Does your CCG provide an erectile dysfunction clinic and can you provide the total number and addresses of all NHS erectile dysfunction clinics within your CCG? If you do not know who should we ask?

NECS reply: Erectile Dysfunction problems can be treated via urology/gynaecology outpatient appointments. These services are provided by Acute Hospital Trust’s within the region. Northumbria Healthcare FT and Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals FT are the most likely to see NT patients. Cannot provide details of exact numbers of clinics as these operate under general Outpatient clinics.

2. Does your CCG provide psychosexual clinics and can you provide the total number and addresses of all NHS psychosexual clinics within your CCG? If you do not know who should we ask?

NECS reply: Psychosexual clinics would be provided as part of general urology provision.

3. Does your CCG provide counselling and sex therapy services and can you provide the details of any NHS counselling services and sex therapy services that treat men with erectile dysfunction within your CCG? If you do not know who should we ask?

NECS reply: Refer to Q2.

4. Does your CCG provide PDE5-I and if so which one?

NECS reply:Yes Sildenafil

5. Does your CCG prescribe ‘tadalafil (Cialis)’ tablets for men who experience erectile dysfunction as a result of prostate cancer treatment?

NECS reply: Yes in terms of treating ED but NOT prevention of developing ED but second line to sildenafil (

6. At what dose are the ‘tadalafil (Cialis)’ tablets prescribed?

NECS reply:10 and 20mg are formulary approved strengths.

7. Is the daily dose of ‘tadalafil (Cialis)’ tablets (2.5/5mg) available/prescribed?

NECS reply: No it is not on the local formulary (although there is likely to be some prescribing).

8. Does your CCG prescribe the Vacuum erection device for men who experience erectile dysfunction as a result of prostate cancer treatment?

NECS reply: Yes – for the treatment of ED and not specific to prostate cancer – see guideline link above.

9. Does your CCG offer Penile implant surgery (semi-rigid or inflatable implant devices) for men who experience erectile dysfunction as a result of prostate cancer treatment?

NECS reply: NHS North Tyneside CCG does not hold this information. Please redirect your request to the Providers listed in answer to question 1.
