What is WSAM?
We are the University of Hartford’s student-run Radio Station.
Why join WSAM?
Being the largest media organization at UHart, WSAM offers many different positions. You can have your own radio show, or get involved in other aspects of running a radio station such as, but not limited to: Advertising/promotions, event planning, engineering, or you can come and listen to good music. This makes an easy way to gain experience towards many different career paths.
When you have your own radio show, you can have an audience of 5,637 undergraduate students and 1,653 graduate students when they tune into 105.3FM, WSAM.Hartford.edu, Channel 5 on their TV, or when hanging inside Hawks Nest, Gengras Student Union, the University Commons, or passing through Alumni Plaza.
As a member of the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System, and the College Music Journal, you have access to tons of music and information that may not yet be released to the public.
“The beauty of WSAM is that no matter what musical interests you have, or major you declare, there is place for you at our station. We have many staffs to efficiently run the station, including productions, music, promotions, engineering, etc. which provide alternative involvement for students who do not want to be on air. As I said, any musical taste is welcomed, including sports and talk radio.
We serve to provide students with an outlet for creative and musical interests, as well as technical interests. We also function to train students with new skill sets, and of course entertain the student body.
WSAM can be found on 105.3 on the dial, at wsam.hartford.edu, or on campus television channel 5. WSAM is broadcast in the largest dining hall on campus – the University Commons, the Hawks Nest, and Alumni Plaza – a common hang out spot for students.”
