Space Definitions

Private Office – office with one desk, designed for one person’s use

Priority Order

·  Tenure system faculty

·  Full-time lecturers without off-site responsibilities

·  Full-time exempt staff (postdoctoral research associates, center business managers)

·  Full-time non-exempt staff with need for confidential workspace and/or materials

·  Full-time non-exempt staff whose duties require confidential or secure workspace

·  Full-time lecturers with off-site responsibilities

Shared Office – office with two desks, designed for two person’s use, not necessarily with related duties or assigned to the same/related projects

Not in priority order

·  Non-exempt staff

·  Full-time lecturers with off-site responsibilities

·  Part-time Lecturers (50% or more)

Project Room Space- 4 or more workstations and secure storage for materials

·  Centers – with staff/students working on externally funded projects

·  Staff working on externally funded projects

·  10 hour or more RAs working on externally funded projects

·  Part-time lecturers

Assigned Workstations – located in unenclosed areas in South, North, West second level, assigned to individuals including a station, filing cabinet, locker and task light.

·  10 or more hour TAs

·  10 or more hour externally RAs (RFP RAs if space is available)

·  part-time lecturers

·  part-time staff

Open space – an enclosed, unlocked space (Hub area, room 120) with unassigned desktop workspace and two (unscheduled) meetings rooms designed for private meetings with students and impromptu meetings with small groups

·  Emeritus faculty

·  Graduate assistants supervising student teachers

Lockers – located in locker room (near café), assigned, if requested, to those using touchdown space and those with active appointments (assistantships, employees) with no need for workspace assignments.

Kiosks - computers located at various place around Furcolo available for use, unassigned and unreserved, many are located near pay-to-print printers.

Collaboration and Resource Room – one location (West, ground level) with vending machines, tables and chairs, soft seating and bookcases (one bookcase assigned to each concentration).

Collaboration Areas – one located on each wing, with refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, water dispenser, cabinet for storing paper goods, copier, counter and stools and large tackboard
