Southeastern has an accelerated option leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree. Students completing the program are eligible to take the National Council of State Board Licensing Examination to become a Registered Nurse. Our program is fully approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington D.C. 20036-1120, at 202-887-6791 x 253. Graduates of this program are employed in a variety of healthcare settings. This option allows you to complete nursing courses in approximately 18 months.

Students must complete all required non-nursing prerequisite courses listed in the curriculum sheet prior to entering nursing courses. Students must apply and be approved to enter the clinical component of the program. Applications are generally submitted in the semester in which a student is completing the required non-nursing courses. We accept two cohorts a year – spring and summer (classes start in May). An application for progression may be obtained from the School of Nursing and deadlines for submission are September 15th for spring admission and February 1st for May admission. A grade of “C” or better in each course is required as well as a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. ALL required pre-requisite courses must be posted on your transcript prior to the application deadline for consideration, or you must be enrolled at Southeastern in any remaining prerequisites at the time of application. ALL requests for substitutions must be made, approved, and posted to your transcript prior to the application deadline.

Please consult the curriculum of the Accelerated Option for Students. To request advising, please apply to Southeastern have all transcripts mailed to Office of Admissions for evaluation. Once your transcripts are evaluated, call the School of Nursing office at 985.549.2156 or email for an advising appointment. Approximately half of the course work will take place on the Hammond campus and the other half will be completed at the Baton Rouge Center which is located at 4849 Essen Lane in Baton Rouge. Clinical opportunities may be available on the Northshore and in the Baton Rouge area.
