CHAIRES D’EXCELLENCE PIERRE-DE- FERMAT

The Conseil Régional Midi-Pyrénées has decided to establish the Pierre de Fermat Highly Qualified Chairs to welcome foreign professors and researchers, in any discipline, with an international recognized reputation.

Each chair allows the foreign scientist to be hosted for 6 or 12 full months, possibly spread over two years, in one or more well-known Higher Learning or Research institutions in Midi-Pyrénées. The global financial amount attributed to each project can go up to € 56 000 for a 6 months chair or € 112 000 for a 12 months chair. This financial support will be used to cover travel and accommodation costs and local expenses. The holder can use a part of the money to support the exchange of one or many young researchers coming from the same laboratory as the holder of the "Chaire d'Excellence Pierre de Fermat".

The successful candidates are required to give about six lectures during the project and a public seminar at the end of the period.

An interdisciplinary Jury will select the candidates every year based on quality criteria. The application is presented by the host group to the Jury.

The deadline for the application for the period 2008-2009 is
June 16, 2008

Each application should contain the following documents:

-The application form (see below)

-A financial sheet (see below)

-A curriculum vitae of the candidate with a list of 20 selected articles considered as major contributions

-A research programme of collaboration between the host and the candidate

-A letter of the host group supporting the invitation of the candidate

The application should be limited to 35 pages
