In compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is classified as a nonexempt position, and the employee is eligible for overtime.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, this position performs a variety of financial duties to include paying bills, preparing and entering checks in QuickBooks, entering payroll and 403B into QuickBooks, budget preparation with comparison of actual operations results against the budget, reconcile cancelled checks and deposits, preparation of schedules and reports to support the annual audit and grants, tracking grant expenditures, prepares monthly financial statements, and other necessary requirements of Transitions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Prepares checks and pays bills on time.

2.  Maintain books and well-ordered filing system.

3.  Tracks accounts payable.

4.  Prepares account analysis schedules and other input to support the annual audit of the financial statements.

5.  Double-checks coding of accounts on invoices, and inputs credit card expenses and payroll to appropriate cost centers.

6.  Prepares budget-related reports required by Transitions including grant reports, membership requirements, 403B input, and dues.

7.  Prepares Monthly Financial Statements.

8.  Closes the books as needed to include journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and other duties.

9.  Performs special analysis, special reports, and any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

1.  Associate degree or Undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting or other appropriate degree.

2.  Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as it applies to not-for-profit organizations.

3.  Experience in budgeting, fiscal management, cash flow analysis/projection and development & analysis of complex financial reports.

4.  Ability to analyze and present data in a clear, concise manner.

5.  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Quickbooks, and related applications.

6.  Familiarity with automated accounting systems.

7.  Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.

8.  Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills.

9.  Excellent follow-through and customer service skills.

10.  High level of personal initiative and ability to work with minimal oversight.

Preferred Qualifications

1.  3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related business activities.

2.  Experience in fiscal administration of grants.

3.  Experience in a similar position or in a non-profit organization.

4.  Experience with QuickBooks software.
