POSITION OVERVIEW
The main purpose of the position is to provide a range of security and risk services. This will cover areas such as group security systems administration, security risk management, vulnerability assessments, threat assessment, security management, security advice & recommendations, project management, security incident reporting and research and development.
Your duty to your employer includes an obligation to carry out your work in a way that does not put ActewAGL in breach of any legislative or regulatory obligations. ActewAGL will have responsibility to provide suitable training and to make you aware of the legal obligations relevant to your work.
Under the ActewAGL Always Safe system, this position is required to participate fully in all aspects of health, safety and environment management within ActewAGL, including risk assessment, hazard identification and control and incident reporting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial & Business Management
- Manage all responsibilities within budgetary constraints.
- Undertake duties with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement in our business performance.
Security - Risk
- Undertake security and vulnerability assessments across the group as required.
- Formulate Security Management Plans from the vulnerability assessment evidence.
- Identify threats and threat levels to ActewAGL across the group and recommend mitigating strategies.
- Assess security risks across all sites and the group and recommend mitigating strategies.
- Create, implement and manage the criticality, vulnerability, threat and risk database.
Security - Administration
- Assist in the management of ID cards, access level and keying systems. Including issuing, returns and replacements
- Administration & Management of SIRS – reporting to the Security manager on all moderate and major issues.
- Maintain the SIRS monthly database and assessing trends within.
- Assist with administration and management of security contracts,
Security - Advice
- Proactively monitor and review corporate protective security measures.
- Provide relevant, timely, accurate, and contemporary security advice on the latest trends, principles, practices, and products relating to the security industry.
- Research and develop new and cost effective solutions (technical and mechanical) to enhance the security to ActewAGL.
Security – General
- Administration of CCTV systems with an emphasis on providing evidentiary information.
- Represent ActewAGL Security at relevant security and critical infrastructure conferences, forums, internal committees & meetings as directed by Security Manager.
- Proactive implementation & review of a full set of SOP’s appropriate to each function.
- Conduct investigations security breaches and make recommendation to mitigate the risk.
- Undertake the systems administrator role for IT systems such as Meridian CAD, SiPass Networking, CCTV, access control and ID system.
- System design for security systems for new projects, access control, CCTV, and ID systems
- Provide recommendations for training awareness courses and systems for ActewAGL staff.
- Administration of access control and intruder detection systems databases.
Project/Contract Management
- Undertake the role of Project Manager to minor / major security projects.
- Undertake the role of Project Manager on various ad-hoc construction projects.
- Undertake the role of Contract Manager for various security related contracts.
- Project Manage security rollouts across the group.
- Upon delegation of projects, proactively & concurrently oversee & co-ordinate all security projects that are the responsibility of ActewAGL Security– with an emphasis on safety, service delivery, agreed deliverables, quality outcomes, timeliness, financial control, customer satisfaction, comprehensive communication, and formal reporting.
- Substantial involvement in the key project management areas of organising, planning, controlling, monitoring, and reporting.
- Ensure that all KPI’s and performance reporting (eg project Status Reports, EOM KPI’s) are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perpetually update Project files (paper & electronic), maintain comprehensive records of issues, and follow auditable Project management techniques.

General Administration
- Ensure that Helpline Work Orders & processes are completed in full and on time.
- Provide statistics and commentary that are both appropriate and timely for use in monthly and ad-hoc reporting.
- Prepare reports and recommendations as required.
- Ensure that filing systems are perpetually and proactively maintained.
- Undertake ad-hoc administrative projects as directed by the Security Manager.
- Proactively maintain all (both paper & electronic) relevant administrative & filing systems.
- Attend & participate in various meetings as required.
Other
- Limited supervision is required.
- Willingness to participate (in a key role) in the Property & Security rotating on-call roster in order to provide a 24 hour emergency response service.
- Other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications & Education:
- A Current Drivers Licence (standard auto/manual) is essential.
- Diploma in Security Risk / Security Field desirable.
- A relevant security degree in Security Science, Policing, Counterterrorism and Security Management are highly desirable.
- 1 – 3 years administration experience is desirable.
- ASIS certifications PSP, CPP, PCI are beneficial.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Computing experience and skills are essential.
- Risk / Vulnerability assessment knowledge is desirable.
- Microsoft software (especially spreadsheets & word processing) experience is essential.
- Project management knowledge is desirable.
- Contract management knowledge is desirable.
- Security systems experience is desirable.
- Business management skills are beneficial.
