TMR Volunteer Role Outline– Engagement Volunteer
Role Description
Engagement volunteers support the delivery of our outreach programme of on-street engagement and weekly support and referral drop-in sessions. Our engagement volunteers meet and support the young men we work with where they are, on the street. They provide support, information and signposting, encouraging the men to engage with our services and signpost them to appropriate services for additional support.
Role Requirements
Knowledge
- Desirable 1 year’s experience of working with young people aged 16+ and /or life experience that will give you an understanding of potential issues affecting men who may be involved in sex work, experience homelessness or have been involved in offending.
- Awareness of safeguarding legislation for children and vulnerable adults
- Awareness of issues affecting men involved in sex work, homelessness and offending.
Skills
- Ability to build rapport with young men and create positive bounded
relationships - Be efficient and approachable
- Be able to work as part of a team
- Competent in IT systems including emails and word
Tasks
- Engage with men with complex needs in various settings including on the street and at drop-ins sessions
- Deliver sessions in the evening and occasional weekends.
- Complete monitoring in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Work within our Policy and Procedures including making safeguarding referrals to the police and social services.
- Monitor and refill resources required for engagement this includes leaflets and condoms.
- Complete Ugly Mugs referrals.
- To take part in team meetings, supervision and any relevant training as required
