Guidelines for Awarding Grants
The following is an application document highlighting the objectives and guidelines of the Rotary Club of Kitchener Grants and Allocations program along with an application form itself.
Grant application deadline and decision timeline:
February 28th
Applications received prior to or on Feb 28th will be reviewed for decision on April 30th
Objective
 To ensure awards are granted consistent with Rotary Club of Kitchener and Rotary International objectives;
 To ensure award decisions are made without discrimination as to sex, race, colour, creed, age, or any unfair bias; and
 To ensure funds awarded are used to the best advantage of the community and in keeping with Rotary principles and/or other Kitchener Rotary Club programs.

GUIDELINES : The following criteria are intended as guidelines.

1. Non-profit organizations and grass-roots community-based organizations are eligible for grants. Individuals may receive grants but under exceptional circumstances.

2. Grants should provide a local community benefit.

3. A specific need or purpose must be clearly identified in the request and with sufficient detail to enable a proper evaluation by the Rotary Grants and Allocations committee.

4. Preference will be given to requests for capital or seed money. Requests for operating funds will be given lower priority. If you are requesting funding for a capital campaign, please describe the service for which you are requesting funding and how the work you do will be improved by this campaign, i.e., explain why the service is important and beneficial to the residents and community of Kitchener-Waterloo.

5. Preference will be given to broader based community needs and benefits.

6. Consideration will be given to organizations that have limited fundraising ability.

8. Funding commitments will normally be for a one-year period only, generally, we will not fund the same organization in consecutive years.

9. Where possible, recipient organizations will attempt to ensure publicity for grants received and/or be willing to highlight their organization and the impact of the grant at a Rotary Club of Kitchener regular Monday meeting.
