It was during the semester break on Thursday, January 9th, at around 4:00p.m. that a roster of thirty grade twelve’s embarked on their mid-semester getaway weekend.

The destination? – Kelowna

The objective? – To have a really good time.

Day one consisted of a five hour road trip by bus. 9:00p.m. was the time to which students had reached Kelowna and checked into their decently moderate Best Western hotel rooms.

With the night still young, everyone a tad restless from the long bus ride, partying ensured till well into day-break despite the mention of a 7:00a.m. wake up call for the next day.

Nonetheless, day two had everyone eager to fulfill their desires of getting their money’s worth. Fatigue was not going to stand in the way. Most of everyone was up on the buzzer and on cue for the complimentary continental breakfast.

Only an hour’s length away from Kelowna, the students disembarked at Shining Star at 9:00p.m.

Having six and a half hours to themselves, the troupe definitely made the most of their time on the runs, whether it be skiing or snowboarding.

Not one of the one-hundred and eleven runs disappointed.

Even for those who could not bring themselves to wake up on time from the last night’s festive events, the day was still held in high esteem by them too.

Arriving back to the Best Western at 5:00p.m., festive activities commenced once more. It was time to hit the town! All nearby restaurants and boutiques were relished by Dr. Charles Best’s senior class of 2003!

Day three opened to a glum start, all bags had to packed up and loaded back on the bus; it was the day of return to Coquitlam!

But before depression could set in, high spirits were risen upon arrival to Big White at 10:00a.m., the prime-time reason to be on this trip.

Dwarfing Shining Star in its sheer size and magnitude, a good majority were simply astounded by the fact of never relishing in the likes of such a mountain.

Getting on the bus at 4:00p.m. and ultimately arriving back at the school ahead of schedule at 9:30, supervisors Mrs. Liscko, Mrs. Young and Mr. Cober were thanked graciously for their time effort put into the trip. Many are still hoping at the possibility of a Spring-Break getaway weekend.
