Role Summary

The successful candidate will work closely and cooperatively with the full-time Goalkeeping Coaches and Coaches in the Development Centre and Academy Foundation and Youth Development Phases to ensure that the needs of all players are fully catered for.
You will assist the management, development and coaching of the goalkeepers, in line with the Coaching philosophy, vision and values of the Academy and the Club as a whole.

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Supporting the full-time Coaches in delivering the coaching programme within the goalkeeping and team sessions
  • To coach the goalkeepers within the Youth Development and Foundation Phases, and other Academy age groups, in tours and tournaments, both at home and away, as required
  • To liaise with the full-time Coaches when planning and arranging coaching sessions and matches to ensure the appropriate support is in place (e.g. sports science, medical, recruitment, education, etc.) and that the timetable fits with all other Academy activities
  • To support in the evaluation of all coaching sessions and matches and ensure that the relevant information is recorded fully on the Performance Management Application (PMA)
  • When required, to lead/assist the full-time Coaches in conducting group/individual video analysis sessions with the players
  • When required, to find and show video clips of position specific best practice to the players
  • When required, to assist the full-time Coaches in the profiling of the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological attributes of each player, then create and agree individual development programmes for them

Safeguarding
  • Monitor potential safeguarding children risks and work with the Academy Safeguarding Officer, and the Head of Safeguarding for Everton Football Club to promote safer working practice throughout the Academy
  • Understandthe Academy Safeguarding policy, procedures and best practice guidelines. Use this understanding to ensure safer recruitment, safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment

Other responsibilities
  • To keep the full-time Coaches and Academy staff informed on all matters relating to the players
  • To be aware of the EPPP rules and requirements
  • To attend staff meetings as required
  • To attend games in the Foundation and Youth Development Phases as required
  • To attend games involving other Clubs for scouting and recruitment purposes, as required
  • To be aware of current trends and best practice in Youth Development
  • To continually look for ways to develop and improve our coaching programme
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably requested

Skills & Abilities
Essential / Desirable
  • An ability to communicate clearly and efficiently
  • Enthusiastic and motivated when working with young footballers

  • Have the ability to accurately manage data

Knowledge & Experience
Essential / Desirable
  • Have experience and knowledge gained from working in an elite football environment
  • Have experience of working with elite young footballers
/
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role in a Category 1 Academy
  • Previous experience of using the Premier League’s Performance Management Application (PMA)

  • Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thrive on the challenges of working in professional sport and must have a flexible approach to working hours to facilitate meeting all the demands of the role with predominately evening and weekend working hours

Qualifications
Essential / Desirable
  • Minimum UEFA B Licence (or working towards)
  • Minimum FA Goalkeeping B Licence (or working towards)
  • Ensure all qualifications are kept up to date in line with EPPP regulations

  • Completed or undertaking FA Youth Award (Modules 1-3 including assessment)
